Before the onset of Monsoon, Many Indian White-eye pairs are seen breeding at Anantagiri forest in Vikarabad district of Telangana State. The female primarily constructs the nest, although the male may assist by bringing materials. The nest is a delicate cup-shaped structure, intricately woven with fine grass, plant fibers, and sometimes spider webs, making it both sturdy and flexible. The nest is usually placed in a shrub or a low tree, well-concealed among the leaves.
Both parents share incubation duties. During this period, the parents are highly vigilant, frequently checking the nest to ensure the safety of the eggs from potential predators.
Once the eggs hatch, the altricial chicks emerge, blind and featherless. The parents are immediately attentive, tirelessly gathering food to nourish their young. They primarily feed the chicks insects and small invertebrates, ensuring a protein-rich diet crucial for rapid growth. Both parents take turns feeding and protecting the chicks.
The Indian White-eye's nesting and chick-raising process exemplifies their dedication and cooperation, ensuring the survival and continuity of their species.
