You enter a dimly lit room. It’s covered in crazy quilts from ceiling to floor. The light is flickering. You see a man sitting at a small table in the center and just hear “greetings all and welcome to Dave’s craft room”
Wow, Dave! I'm in awe. Your fpp sharks are gorgeous - and I learned how to fix a mistake. I would have ripped - unnecessarily and caused myself a headache. I really like your layout technique using your flannel wall. I am becoming a fan. Thanks for taking us along on your journey.
I need a thinking hat...with a brain in it, ha ha. The paper piecing was awesome, I was thinking I hope there’s no piece with 2 stitches yet there was and you did it so skillfully! I liked your tip about stitching over a wrong colored piece with the correct one, also how to repair the pieces to make the block flat. Learning a lot from your videos!
So sorry, I mistakenly hit the down arrow. I enjoy your videos so much. You are very creative in your quilt designs. I only recently discovered your channel and love watching your videos.
I've just discovered your channel and I am already hooked! You are an awesome quilter. You have my subscription and all my attention! Thanks for sharing your talents with us!!
The last music selection was epic. I was thinking of a voice over: "A revolutionary new concept that is going to change the way you think about quilting. Forever!"
AWESOME quilt Dave!! That FPP shark Wow! I'm with you on the mitered corners, I do the corners my way. Lucky ,lucky Olivia. Love your channel. Quilt on!!
This quilt is stunning. I work at spreading motifs out and you put those two FPP blocks in straight intersecting lines and it looks so good. I always learn something new watching your videos. I use the bent safety pins and I got these little plastic covers that attach to the pins (somebody on You Tube recommended them) and they make it a lot easier to pick up/pin them. Thanks for sharing.
Pop off, quilt!!!! Always so happy to see your new videos. And thankful there is someone else in this world who also watches Drag Race while they quilt 🤘
Goodmorning Dave!! I think it is time for you to make yourself a wizard hat because you are a quilting Wizard! I have not tried FPP before. I am 62 years young so I guess it is way past time for me to do so. Your tip on getting rid of puckers is a great tip. Took me years to figure that one out. This is such a great quilt! You did so many FPP blocks. Just amazing! I use to scuba dive too and being in the water with a shark is not so scary. It is interest to see how other people respond to them. Olivia is a very special girl and I hope she gets to scuba dive as well. Happy Tuesday! 🧵🧵🦈🦈🪡🪡
Another fantastic quilt, and awesome video. Just goes to prove improv is as good as a pattern. Love the paper piecing - such small bits but so well executed Dave.
Oh My Goodness Dave, Is there anything you cannot do?? Whole smokes that was a fantastic job on the pucker part, wow!!! I have never gotten that far with paper piecing. Man, I’d better give that another try to see if I can paper piece, my brain gets crazy with the up-side down and backwards sewing. 😅Olivia’s Quilt came out perfectly❣️ I Love this Quilt. Way to go. 👏👏👏 I hope you have a good week, 👍👏❣️ Chris
Well done Dave!! Thank you for the tip on puckering seams. Also, for the idea of doing fold over binding vs. mitered corners . That would save me time as I always go back to hand sew the open pockets that are created.
I wanna come spend a day in Dave’s Craft Room … I think it’d be a hoot! Maybe I’d pick up some quilting mojo … a video like this every Tuesday?! SHEESH! Have you ever tried FPP using freezer paper? No more tearing out paper … it’s da bomb!
Love the Kanagawa wave fabric. I was born in Yokosuka Kanagawa so it resonates with me. And I’m still waiting for my California quilt sir. Just think, when you’re long gone, decades from now, you’re quilts will be around for many decades after that. You touched a lot of people and the people they will make.
Every time I see you have made a new video, it makes me smile. This quilt is epic in my opinion. I have never seen such small FPP pieces. Thank you for showing there is more than 1 way. And straight pins just make the quilting process more interesting. Little reminders to focus. 😂❤
Loved the paper piecing- not ready to try it yet but I will. You are generous with your time for others-you are inspiring. Keep enjoying what you do Dave.😊 from Australia
the detail in the shark's mouth makes me think you are some kind of craftochist (crafter+masochist)...joking aside, amazing shark block!!! And as usual, loving the musical choices.
Hey Dave, may I say what a marvelous work of art. This quilt is amazingly wonderful. I love Matthew from Mr Domestic. I learned gravity-based basting from him. Matthew is a great teacher. From you lI earned binding need not be continuous, one side at a time . Quilts don't have to be fancily quilted to be loved by their recipient. Great job.
I’m new to your channel and love your created words, enjoy catching them every now and then. Your thinking is so outside of the box it’s amazing!!! Creativity at it’s finest!
So PRETTY, Dave! All your quilts are amazing but they’re not all pretty. This one is! Great blues. How fun with the Kaffe fabric! See you next Tuesday!
wonderful quilt and instructions , thankyou for the detail especially fixing the pucker and links -enjoyed your music selection today , the positive energy was great- Mihi aroha Karen
Regarding basting spray... you can make your own with just flour, water, salt and alcohole (vodka is fine). You cook it, fill it in a spray bottle and use it that way. I only recommend to not use it with only poly batting since that did not work for me. And you must wash the quilt after finishing to not attract attract bugs. Maybe you give it a shot 😊 You also have to wait till it is really dry to not clock your needle. But I love that method. No shifting of the layers at all. Great shark quilt and fiddly FPP btw ❤
DAVE! This is just GORGEOUS! Love it! I wish I could afford Kaffe Fasset fabrics, he's definitely one of my favorite designers! (O.K. my ONLY favorite!) Maybe someday....! Thanks for the video.
Oh my. Where do I start! This is an amazing quilt. I love the fpp. The music, California 60's surfer! Love it! PERFECT! I have also been enjoying the videos with your Mom. Oh, and The Sewing Channel is following you! That's great! Have you seen the Dream Catcher Olta uploaded today. She's a creative geniouz, just like you! I am so happy i found you ❤❤❤
I bind my quilts the same. I sew both top and bottom on first and don't turn the ends under. Then I sew both sides and turn those ends under. Less bulk. I read that this was the Amish binding. ❤
BTW- thanks so much for the tip about ironing/sewing out the puckers. I am quite sure I will be using that very useful informatio Dave, you're the best! P.S. I never really got the hang of mitered corners, and I don't think they look any better or worse than anything else. Have a great week!
Have you tried basting with Elmer's School Glue. Use small dots of glue. Set it with your iron. It does wash out. However, it may take little extra time to dry, if you use a lot of glue. Your quilt is very interesting. It is beautiful if you like sharks.
I don’t normally like music during videos but you chose perfect music for this Shark quilt! I enjoyed it! Loved the quilt. You don’t have any safety pins to use to baste? Oh no! Have you ever basted with needle & thread? It’s fairly fast & much less painful!
You enter a dimly lit room. It’s covered in crazy quilts from ceiling to floor. The light is flickering. You see a man sitting at a small table in the center and just hear “greetings all and welcome to Dave’s craft room”
Tongue pop 👅 is all I hear and all I can say! 🎉 yaaaaassss
This was a riot 🥰🤣
Quilt "sammich"...❤❤❤
You're like the mad scientist of quilts. LOL
Love it. You're such an inspiration to this 73 year old lady from Scotland. Always learning new things. Thanks Dave.

I love this quilt and am awestruck by the paper piecing of the sharks! Wow just wow!

Straight pins for basting? Non-mitered corners? Improv quilts galore? You doing you, exactly why I always look for your videos on Tuesday afternoons!
LOVE THAT HAT...........IT IS EVERYTHING !!!!!!! LOVE YOUR CREATIVITY AND ENERGY !!!!!!
On top of all the cool ideas and techniques, your musical choices are wonderful!
Every time one of those straight pins got you, I hope you yelled, “shark attack!”
As always, thank you for sharing.
