Is the 1994 Toyota Celica GT-Four the JDM you should BUY or get a Supra?

  • The Celica GT-FOUR is a very iconic JDM. It was built for one reason and one reason only and that was to go rally racing in the WRC. Under the hood is a 2.0L inline-4 turbocharged 252 HP & mated to a 5-speed manual. It's AWD system will keep you planted to whatever the terrain is. It's exterior is pure homologation and is ultra rare. Is the 1994 Toyota Celica GT-FOUR a true JDM legend?

    Definitely a unique car by today's standards. Back in the late 90s and early 2000s this car would have been a sleeper hit to race your buddy's Mustang or WRX with. You just don't see these kind of cars anymore from Toyota - unless you want a Supra or maybe the 86.

I would recommend a GT4 to anyone looking to import one, they have a bulletproof drive tran and you can pick up a parts car "90'sCelica GT-S" for under $500 for most of your interior & exterior parts...Also the 94' WRC edition had 265HP / 225ft/LBS compared to the normal GT4 with 255HP / 225ft/LBS the Reg. EUR GT4 had 252HP

    This is kind of off the topic a little but my parents bought their first Japanese car in 1989, it was a Mazda 626 LX and man that car was brand new and felt like a Cadillac compared to the 1986 Ford Tempo that they traded in. The materials and knobs and seats and stereo equalizer and slow dimming interior lights and automatic front seat belts felt so premium! They bought Japanese then Lexus came on scene a couple years later and they got one of them and I thought we were really in tall cotton then lol and I didn’t mind getting dropped off at school in that Lexus! I was a senior in 1995 btw. Joe asked what we were doing in 1994 or 1995 and to put it in the comment section. Love and remember these Celicas well!! Loved the Preludes and Supras and even the cheap low performance Mazda MX-6 V6!!

    No drinks or food in my car either and If I could I would make passengers remove anything from their back pockets to protect my leather seats from wear and tear. In 94 I had been out of school 8 years, working at a factory in NC and driving a Pontiac Grand Am SE.

    I'm sure Scotty doesn't even know this car exists, someone get ahold of him so he can buy THIS one! I know this, the intro of "REV UP YOUR ENGINES" would take on a whole new look and sound❗❗
    Joe, great to hear the history lesson on this one but then again you are a history teacher 👍👍

      @ericsmith8129 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Scotty doesn’t really know much about celica history. He just likes the weak us versions because they’re slow and reliable. On his episode that goes into celicas history, half the info is wrong and he hated their collaboration with Yamaha even though they helped build Toyota’s best engines.

      A lot of scottys info is inaccurate, about more than just the celica. I was appalled at how much he got wrong on his celica episode. That’s why all these Scotty comments are cringe. I get that he is entertaining to watch but his content is usually sub par.
      Kudos to you for actually doing your research and having accurate descriptions of these cars. I’ve enjoyed watching your channel grow.

    Thanks for sharing Joe. I have a question for you. When the driver seat is on the opposite side of the car and of course you shift gears with your left hand are the pedals also opposite which means that the gas pedal would be with the left foot and the break and clutch would be with the right foot? Just a question that I have always wanted to ask.

    • @RaitisRides
      @RaitisRides  3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Great question. No, they are exactly how they are on the cars we drive here in the States.
