16ft chainsaw carving
I almost seriously injured and got fined for carving this piece.

Falling off a latter, and feet from a huge log & Not being 100% sure I was able to carve on the land.
Following the Eagles and Ravens brought me to the Spirit of Squamish
First off thank you Squamish Nation and very glad I followed my heart and did this sculpture for all to see
Right off Highway 99 in Squamish BC. Google Squamish Landfill or spirit of Squamish pin and it will be on the other side of the road.
this tree was a blow down and when a tree dies and is carved and i breathed on it with love i brought the carving back to life. I was told that from the teachings of the Squamish first nation. Very cool info and history. Love this piece

I was brought here by, Chrome Valdez. He introduced the "Spirit of Squamish," in one of his vidoes on VanCity VanLife here on YT. Didn't know the history, he was just driving by and had to stop and appreciate the artistry. What a great story behind the carving. The reason it hit me is I’m somewhere in the 50% Chippewa. I’m not with a tribe, but I’m told of the one my birth father was part of.

@@tjm7275 yes sir I’m an hour west of Albany. I walk in the state woods and see some cool dead trees and think that would be cool to carve and look over my shoulder hoping no one heard my thoughts. Lol .

A lot of balls to do this carving on the side of the road, and on someone’s property. Good for you for having the nerve and doing something good in these weird times. I like your carving and how the local tribe/Squamish nation explained the life of the tree. Keep up the cool videos 👍. Where I live in the Puget Sound I live close the the Squamish reservation. I love the idea that you're giving life back to a fallen tree. This struck me because this is how I got started in the carving business. I began by carving ash trees that were decimated by the ash bore. By giving the trees a new life they in return gave me a new life. It's also a gift that you give back to the community. It was my way of giving thanks.
Glad you were not hurt and that the tree carving was considered another way of bring a dead tree back to life. I love it and wish you lived by me because I have a couple of trees that would so much better if they were blessed with a carving from you.

Ryan your work is amazing keep it up carving wild trees. I used to live in Bristol UK and many year ago had to go and white wash billboards that Banksy had expressed his art, I hated doing this, he was considered by the authorities as a graffiti criminal, he never gave up, Banksy is now famous for his ART the ENTIRE WORLD OVER.

That's looks amazing Ryan sometimes it's easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission because they won't allow it and as you said you brought the tree back to life and it will be there for a long time to come well done mate love it be careful don't want you to get hurt love watching you carve and create :-)

I am a stone sculptor and doing my first woodcarving. I have an 8ft stump in my yard and I am attempting this. A little crazy, I know . But I like a challenge.
