  • In Colorado, we see how one school district's embrace of AI to optimize bus routes could serve as a nationwide roadmap to help address a shortage of drivers. And in Arizona, we learn how ransomware attacks by cybercriminals are placing a financial strain on many school systems. Watch these stories and more on "Eye on America" with host Michelle Miller.

There isn’t a bus driver shortage. There is a pay shortage. If you paid them better you would get more employees. Problem solved.

Hey hey hey let’s not rush into this. You want the government to pay people more money that’s not efficient. Maybe you didn’t hear Donald Trump. He’s going to get rid of the Department of education so kids won’t even have to go to school which means they won’t need bus drivers. That’s efficiency that will save us money. We can give that money back to rich people in the form of tax cuts. Tada

No, there is a democracy shortage. Everything is owned and run by capital including this news broadcast. Everything, including pay, housing, etc is downstream of that.

Being a school bus driver used to be a great career with good pay and pensions. No more. Privatization creates greed and dangerous inefficiency.

Take it all offline. All the school computers offline. Like it was in the 90s. Easy as that.

That’s us from that generation remembering the so-called good old days. Realistically that doesn’t make sense. From an educational perspective, you can learn more with a computer. You can access more information with a computer. What you want to do is teach children at a very young age critical thinking skills, and you want them to be familiar with operating a computer to access information. That way when you give them a problem Like an algebra problem, they can solve it without a computer or if necessary if it turns into some complicated calculus problem in college. They can solve it with a computer and understand how to take those results and insert them into a real scenario.
I can’t tell you how many students I see today who can use a computer to solve a problem, but can’t think critically about how to apply the solution. Literally, I figured out the answer. What should I do with it?

Or collect less sensitive data. You don't even need an SSN to enroll so why would schools have it saved? These thieves aren't interested in lesson plans.

Hire retired people as buss drivers. Easy PT job for retirees who want extra $’s. My whole life riding on school busses was driven by retired people...... again, people not thinking out of the box.......

Retired people should be allowed to not work. 😢 Sadly many of them can't afford to so maybe they can help fill the gaps.

Is the city of Tucson giving lifetime identity theft protection to the students? Their incompetence was the cause of theft? Why does the IT guy still have a job? Is he maybe involved?

    • @jermelpurse3018
      @jermelpurse3018 9 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +2

It’s honestly not IT at fault it’s usually not even poor security. The problem is in the computer world. Those who steal information are always evolving. They’re always changing tactics moving on to doing things a new way so it’s always a game of cat and mouse.
Guess what? It’s the same thing when it comes to national intelligence, we play cat and mouse on the defensive side of things and the offensive side of things when it comes to gathering intelligence from an IT perspective. This is just how it works with computers they evolve so fast you can’t keep up with it , but they are literally a necessity for life today. People don’t understand how much computers do for them in the background.

You know there’s another thing that would ease bus driver shortage, more bus drivers. If only you paid them more money to drive your kids to and from school. The problem is we want bus drivers to drive the kids to and from school, but we don’t want to pay them for 8 hours a day of work. We only want to pay you while you’re driving and we only want to pay you a little bit of money

Lol.... electric busses...... Lion Electric just closed its plant in the outside of Chicago just closed. All they did was make electric school busses. They were only open for 1 year. According to them, there is no demand for electric busses. The story missed this huge development. Lion just closed 2 weeks ago and has no plans to ever open again.

I love how they exploit workers and refuse to hire anyone who doesn't have the right amount of experience, and then call it a "shortage".

As soon as I heard Tucson and cyber I already knew that they were broke and couldn't do anything about it. It's sad because Tucson is transient town and if you are still there it's because your grandparents retired there and their kids were there when it was a lot easier to find work because today the major employers are the military. Everyone that arrives there is gone within a few years as they went to college or did their training as needed and left. You don't stay, you leave to make the money elsewhere. It's because of that Tucson is struggling and will continue to struggle.

Yes children need Phonics. The rules of language. This is the reason so many children have names that are spelled one way, but their parents are the only ones who can say it correctly. They spend their entirel lives "correcting" everyone on how to say their names. Ex. "Deishy" pronounced "Dai-Shay". Its ridiculous.

The rush to install these systems in schools that have any outside entry point was foolish without hardened security to prevent access. Applies across the board to businesses as well.
I know it's like any arms race now. The trick now is to prevent any changes to SS and banking systems and the like, without being done in person. Sorry.😪

However, for an additional cost they have apparently been creating AI security and professional development hackers that control cyberspace 😂 so it looks and sounds like a cyber mafia 😅

Can't capitalism our way out of capitalism. Without significant reform we are barreling towards a sci-fi dystopia. We don't need an all seeing eye. What we need is more democracy, not less aka unelected and unaccountable capital owning and running every aspect of society, including the internet, TH-cam, CBS, internet and television more broadly.
