    Translation: put lazy protection programs on your kids' computers while putting in zero effort into spending time with them. Then sleep at night not knowing they're smart enough to bypass any restrictions you put on them.

    • @MilwaukeeWoman
      @MilwaukeeWoman 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      There's restrictions that can't be bypassed. As long as they don't have a data plan on their phone (if there at home all the time, they don't need it) you unplug the router and physically lock it up. No streaming or internet works without it. Kids need to spend time with their parents but they also need to learn to entertain themselves. Parents shouldn't helicopter.

      as a 22 year old who had unrestricted access to the internet my entire life, i don't get why you say that, because the internet is were you have (if your not truly restricted) infinite access to ALL of human information, ontop of since your 15 your brain still has neural placidity meaning your brain is acting like a sponge for info, having unrestricted access should be making you smarter, giving you major advantages.
      you must be using it wrong, because i wish i used the internet more as a kid, because the bit i did use it put me on a fast track to graduating high school two years early.
      it is prob tougher for you though the funny thing is were the same GEN (gen z) but im a first wave gen Z meaning im the exact same age as google, you being 15 you were born just in time for the end of the information age, the info is still out there and the internet can still be a great tool for self improvement its just now days when you ask the internet a question the answer isn't always so straight forwarded.
      but learning is fun and Knowledge literally is power!
      like when Columbus stole from natives by telling them " my god is stronger than your god, and my god will take the sun from the sky if you do not hand over your items" then later the sun was removed from the sky.
      of course it was only a solar eclipse Columbus used his knowledge of astronomy to rob natives of there resources as he knew there was to be a solar eclipse but they didn't understand what it was.
      the more you know the less likely it is someone will try to use there knowledge to gain power over you, the more you know the more likely it is you will have power over others.

Technology has really changed the way society works for the generations to come, and I've noticed that it's taken a lot of effect on me as well. I should never have been introduced to instantly gratifying devices that young, because who knew I could turn out to be a very inexperienced young adult just because I've spent all my childhood on electronic devices rather than learning something new from the outside world.
      This isn't our fault because we grew up with it, but we have to do something because it is really impacting many lives in many aspects, especially the newer generations such as us. I'm still affected by it, though, I'm trying to figure out how to get out of this mess somehow.

If parents, teachers, religious leaders, managers etc are concerned about this, then you should evaluate why children don't find fun or gratification in real world interactions. Physical strain on eyes and body: Depends on how you sit, how bright the screen is, if night mode is on, etc.
      Sleep deprivation: Yeah, when you don’t sleep, you get sleep deprivated. Normally, kids actually sleep
      Increased risk of obesity: a screen doesn’t create fat. Your body gets the fat from food. If you want to get rid of that fat, use enough energy for your body to use it. Cause that’s what fat is, spare energy
      Chronic health conditions: connected to the obesity thing, I’m presuming? Cause once again, light won’t give you herpes
      Loss of cognitive ability: Doubt someone will become clinically brain dead because of a screen
      Impaired socialising skills: Depends on how long you play/do, and what you play/do.
      Weakened emotional judgement: I don’t really get this one.. only thing about it I could find was: ”the act of gauging the validity of a truth based on one's emotional reaction to it”, which.. yeah that can mean two things;
      1. You gauge the validith of something based on logic

    Kids shouldn’t spend all their time in front of a screen because they’ll literally spend the rest of their adult life in front of them.

    LOL. I am 68 years old and since age 4 have only encountered people who stare at screens. Whatever the "consequences" they have already occured Have met a few people who just read novels, books etc but they become more and more distant from the mainstream and extremely burdensome.

      There's a couple people I know who prefer books over the company of humans. No scare stories about them on the news. Anything can become a replacement for human interaction and an addiction.

    The internet and other social media and video games, etc. aren’t the problem. It’s that people spend excess time on it. Screen time needs to be limited and we need to experience the non cyber world (the real world). Like this for example playing video sports and real sports will always have a difference.

      @@somerandomdude4588 Have you ever heard of people that "peak in high school?" These kids are peaking in elementary school with synapse overloads at the behest of dopamine. Dopamine detoxing is what makes us like doing hard things. This will manifest into depression...Nature's cure for depression is murder. These kids are doing murder in video games. I don't know the consequences but it's not a good time with the economy making us all think a little more like animals. These kids are guinea pigs in an experiment but they don't even know they signed up for it.
