I've never thought about that. My issue is not with Ubuntu (I still think it's a good distro, despite what many enthusiasts say about it), it's just that the GNOME desktop environment is not for me anymore (due to it's lack of customizability and theming support).
after a decade of using Ubuntu myself i switched to Pop_OS, no more snaps...and great update management.
Have you seen or thought about Mint Debian Edition " Faye" or not your cup of tea? cheers. :)
