I love basil and lemons - will have to try this but I would want to put the basil sugar inside the cake ...probably putting half the batter in then add sugar layer and then rest of batter :) thank you!

I think you should turn the basil sugar in to more of a strusel like you would for a coffee cake if your going do this 😋

Great technique. I think the lemon peel as ingredient helps retaining the fresh colour should you store the rest of the batch a little longer.
