Got this one 5 days ago, used off eBay. It has everything, 16GB RAM, WQHD display, Samsung 1TB SSD. It's used as a desktop replacement with a Lenovo Ultra docking station. I am a ThinkPad specialist, since I have 4 now & 2 which have gone to new owners. The weak point in all is the USB-C charging connector, they are easily broken & not user or shop replaceable. There are 3 reasons for this. 1) They are unique to Lenovo, 2) the solder pads are under the connector 3) there are five tiny signal filters (inductors) that can fly off the board from the hot air gun. If the motherboard is replaced, you need the proprietary software to reprogram the BIOS. The combo connector next to it can also be used for charging. As you showed, the bottom cover is difficult to remove, the X1 Carbon of the same generation comes off a lot easier. BTW, Lenovo has hardware maintenance manuals online for all ThinkPads. They show with pictures & text how to disassemble everything.
nice video, thanks the keyboard's 2 screws are under the trackpoint left and right click buttons. the buttons come off by lifting them from the touchpad side w/ a prying tool, slide the keyboard towards the screen then lift it from the touchpad side.
Hi Binh, thanks for sharing this useful video. It helped to disassemble and fix my laptop not turning on. There was corrosion on a component (not sure how it happened, may be due to moisture or water drop) and I reset the battery bios as you suggested, which might resolved the issue.

The CMOS battery reset did the trick. All of a sudden my laptop won't charge. I reset my laptop from the back side as explained in this video and voilaaa. It started charging.

Hi when I turned on my thinkpad it beeps seven times in a musical tone but blank screen. I checked my power button and charging plot, they have indicator light. Kindly ask what happen to my laptop? I had tried holding the power button for 1 min and press the pinhole(reset battery) with needle, it still doesnt work. Thank you.

I have bought this model almost 1 year ago and I love it! But after I opened it up to add ram I noticed that front side (near the trackpad) of the bottom panel does not tighten well with clips. So now the front side of the case (palm rest ) become squeaky and there is very very little gap between bottom panel and top panel. I opened it up again to inspect if something was wrong but could not find anything unusual, clips are intact, they are not broken or something. it just does not snap in titer. Do you experienced same issue ?
Hello! I hope to find a solution or at least some advice. I have a Thinkpad T490, and recently encountered the following issue. The laptop doesn't start, but when I press the power button, the LEDs light up for about two seconds, the fan starts for two seconds, and then it stops. After another 4-5 seconds, the fan and LED start by themselves, and I hear a single beep. It has 8GB of RAM soldered to the motherboard, and I've tried almost everything. I've tested it with an additional RAM stick in the slot, a different SSD, and with and without the battery. I've tried pretty much everything I found on forums.
Hi, I’m about to get a T490 with windows 11 installed. But the laptop itself has two issues which are the speaker and audio jack are not working. Is there anyway these problems could be fixed?
@@ItsBinhRepaired I just checked device manager and found out that the Intel(R) SST is missing. Do you think re attaching the speakers or replacing the speakers on board would fix this problem?
