I love how 1:54 is framed just like how you're about to fight venom as peter and then NOPE, pete gets bodied and then you play as venom. I just thought it was so clever how they set that up.

Apparently the developers decided to add elements of Ultimate Spider Man and Spider man: Web of Shadows to Spider Man 2. I didn't expect the game to get darker
We can see there's a lot Symbiote elements in Spiderman 2. The Web of Shadows. That Brings back good memories

For sure! Ultimate still has a special place in my memory for the venom sections. Now if only Insomniac could give us free roam as Venom… I mean they ent to all this trouble to program a full move set for him. Why let it go to waste for one mission?

i think everyone missed a subtle gag during this, at one point it asks venom to use one of those air vents that the spidermen always crawl through during the game, except this time when venom uses it he just busts thru the entire wall

I just love the feeling the game gave you when you’re playing as Venom. The PS5s controller actually felt heavy when he would stomp around making you feel enormous and such a bad ass. I honestly believe insomniac has cracked the “successful code” on how to make these hero games gameplay play wise.

This was one of THE BEST sequences in the game, insomniac knew exactly what they were doing 👍🏻
I loved every second of it! Literally smiling through the whole thing like a kid.
I remember as the cutscene kept going on, and started to focus on his back angle more and more i just kept going no way…no way…NO WAYY! I just did not expect to be able to play as venom at all!! Insane. Real nostalgia to ultimate spider-man.
It's a real shame that we can't use Venom in the open world. That would've made the game close to perfection in my eyes

There’s always future updates. They will be working to improve and grow the game. Venom is already playable, we already have an open world map. All they gotta do is add a new mode to that map where we rage as Venom

I hope that Venom is brought back as a playable character with an improved movelist and skills in a spin-off game like they did with Miles Morales so he could fight Carnage (technically Carnage is his archenemy).
My guess is that he could be brought back via a small residue that could still reside inside Harry though the Symbiote hive mind

That back breaking finisher totally took inspiration from that move that you have when you play as him in Ultimate Spider-Man.
Yeah one of my favorite moves. I was so excited to see that. Insomniac show they are fans of many great spider/man games and this whole level plays homage to ultimate. Was a really nice treat.
I always knew Venom would be a big menace but NOT THAT BIG ! He's even more terrifying than in the previous games ! And Carnage, though ? Better prepare for Spider-Men funeral ...

This game managed to involve 3 iterations of Venom(Original, Agent Venom, and King in Black)all while using the most under-utilised side character in spider man lore, and it worked.
Now I want a full Venom game

Venom is so damn awesome here I gotta say this version is even better than the movies and has more comic accuracy he’s also more brutal and savage cause he actually has his weapon morphing ability from comics which makes him stronger than the movie version as well all we need now is a Rated R Venom spin off game

Dude this is nowhere near comic accurate. Venom isn't a savage mindless rampaging goo monster, he is a lot more focus in a fight then people give him credit for, even gargan wasn't this feral. The shape-shifting weapons is more carnage thing, venom fight more like an aggressive brutish version of spiderman.

I know this may seem a little off topic to point out but I love how Norman begs Harry to stop during his rampage. I feel like everything Insomniac has been setting up with him from the first game through this one could really result in a ferocious and memorable version of the Green Goblin that would honestly rival Willem Dafoe to me. Idk, just got me thinking

@@OVO.Stark1M I just think that insomniac’s been building up their version of the character a lot in the background of the events in each of the games he’s appeared in. Dafoe is goated that’s never gonna change, but considering how much I’ve liked their take on many of the villains, to me, their version has the possibility of being amazing in their own right. That’s all
Yes I agree, I really enjoy how the first game showed us Norman’s incredibly arrogant personality while hinting at having deeper motives such as saving his son after losing his wife and the second game we see him be a very concerned father doing everything in his power to save Harry along with begging Spider-Man to save his boy when technically that boy threw him out a window. He feels like a really complicated and human character and a worthy final big bad of this saga.
I think they handed the idea of Hairy as Venom very well compared to Ultimate Spider-Man’s take on it. Ultimate’s direction felt embarrassingly bad where it almost felt like they where intentionally making him look bad. Here on the other hand, they make Venom look like an actual villain and threat to Spiders-Man and the world where it culminates with a direct reference to Web of Shadows.
Honestly it shows just how different things could have been had someone not like Eddie had venom first. Eddie didn't care about anything but killing peter. So Venom didn't really have a cause to make other symbiotes. Here we see him prepare an entire hive in the game because his views are different than just kill peter. That made him much more dangerous than BROK's Venom this early because of his views.
It’s crazy how venom can walk through fire, that just shows how menacing he is.
Normally Symbiotes are weak to fire. Not this time though!

@@Twocoolman115 I think I read "extreme heat" is the symbiote's vulnerability. I'm no expert on the fire weakness but it looks like the fire didn't burn hot enough to weaken the symbiote
@Twocoolman115 that's something I don't like about this Venom. It feels like the makers aren't being accurate with the comic version.
Venom was handled perfectly in the game, from the small teases leading to the big reveal and getting to play as Venom, felt like a dream come true in Spider-Man 2! Insomniac Games nailed the character design, one of my favorite portrayals of the character 👏👏👏
This mission alone makes the game's campaign at least an instant 9/10 imo
So happy we can replay the missions now! This one is one of my favorites

Playing is Venom. This is absolutely awesome.
I have a theory that Venom was supposed to have his gameplay expanded upon in a DLC. They probably would have written a continuation story where a stray Symbiote is revealed to have survived the events of the main story and has bonded to a new host(preferably Eddie Brock), but instead of becoming a villain like Harry, he becomes an anti-hero and helps Spider-man and Miles fight against Carnage(factoring in how the Wraith mission teased Carnage). They probably would have even added some mobility features to give him better mobility in the open world.
Whether the leaks changed/canceled these ideas is hard to say, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's the reason Insomniac has been so quiet about updates for this game.
When Venom showed up, I felt like I was playing Ultimate Spider-Man again.
Oh man, this delights me. Insomniac are king of superhero games.

I understand why venom might be difficult to add to free roam or to justify. I would love though if they added a venom rampage mode. Where youre in a base going against endless waves if enemies and seeing how long you can last

There is no way venom is fully gone. They left it open ended, unless something happens when you take down the symbiote nests cause I haven’t done that yet

Venom has always been my favorite supervillain
While the game later reveals that Harry was unaware of what he was doing for the majority of his time as Venom, I believe that he was at least aware of what he was doing during this level. I believe this level was Harry lashing out over his frustrations toward his condition, Peter being everything he isn't and can never be, and Norman seemingly favoring his best friend over his own son. The symbiote gave him the power to enact that aggression without inhibition, as it primarily enhances the negative emotions of its host. The subtitles also address Venom as Harry throughout this level. I believe that after killing Kraven, Harry came to his senses and was horrified by what he'd done, so the symbiote had to suppress him to enact their "heal the world" plot. After that, it was all the symbiote. Even the scene with Harry, Peter, and MJ in the house was just the symbiote puppeting his body.
This is the only time we could say Harry was "in control" of himself or at least aware of what he was doing.
The amount of time ive replayed this mission .. Damm the built up to venom was awesome.. Felt amazing to play as venom

Harry is brain dead and that particular Symbiote was mostly destroyed and turned into anti venom for Spider-Man’s new abilities moving forward in Peter’s third game but Eddie Brock still exists in this universe, There are other Symbiotes and insomniac is teasing a playable Venom spin off game. So the most logical choice is to do a game based on the lethal protector storyline with Eddie Brock’s Venom.

I bet we’ll get at least some little combat arena challenges for him, if not a larger dlc where he makes a reappearance and is playable again, especially with the carnage setup. He was too much fun to never have again.
