@@QuanticFlux I did watch, and you managed to succeed. So either you got incredibly lucky in the second run, or incredibly unlucky in the first run. I don't think it had anything to do with the character at all.
Appreciate you watching the whole video! I could have both gotten very lucky in the second run and very unlucky in the first run, haha. You could be right about it not being related to the character, or it could be that I built it wrong. It seemed to me that the knight had more damage and AOE built into their basic attacks, but attacked much slower at first. I'm thinking for the soldier maybe you lean into attack speed and stamina to make the passive last longer? Not sure, to be honest.
it's opportunity cost, if you spend less on other buffs while they may make the game easier and give you more stuff, compared to the expensive % increase, it's better to get the other buffs. I mean, you kill more stuff, you get more currency and goals.
Hmmm. That's a great point you're making there. I guess it depends how the meta progress points are earned. If kills impact how many points you get then you're right that it's more important to upgrade other things first.
Some roguelikes are designed to be lost in the first run. It feels better to watch someone who dies early to show more content than what you tried with the gunner. Personally, around the 7 minute mark the run was hard enough that resseting would be a good ideia
In retrospect I entirely agree with you. I'm not a big fan of roguelites where meta progress is required to win, so I wanted to give the game a chance to show me that it wasn't like that. That being said, I definitely should not have tried for 11+ minutes to kill that boss that I had no chance of killing. Confusingly though, I had no issues winning the first time with the knight, and the only meta progress that I had at that point was a higher percentage of meta progress points. I think the soldier might just be a lot weaker than the knight.
you're so dumb and boring when you picked the dumbest choices and go opposite of the character build, you cant make rouge content if you cant grasp those 2 simple points
That first run was an example of how perseverance doesn't always get you what you want 😅
Ain't that the truth. xD
I like how you struggled on Medium your first run and then kill yourself in the boss, then do Medium again for the second run. Smart.
Thanks, I thought so too! Did you like the outcome of the second run, or did you not watch that far?

Thanks so much for the constructive comment! I'll do my best to make proper "rouge" content that's not dumb or boring in the future.
