Method Man, GZA, Ghostface Killah and others spittin over classic oldschool beat!! Original samples: jeru the damaja - come clean & marley marl - the symphony
I found this track on Napster back in the summer of 2000 and burned it on a cd, played it in the car all the time. I used to shamelessly bust out GZA's verse af parties and freestyle battles and people would just die, "That's the best rap I have ever heard!!!!" === I know, that's why they call him Genius...
I'm 39 about to be 40 in September this year 2016. I was 17 when wutang came out. I am so glad my teenage life was back then not now. Everything about the early 90s was dope. From PAC, biggie, Nas, Foxy brown, lil Kim and the WU. Their style was off the hook. The fashion, lyrics. I have been so inspired by every rappers from the 90s. It was fun to wear baggy jeans, sneakers. It was fun to see girls dressed like boys not being lesbian. The best style ever will never come back. I'm proud to be 40
Lucky dude, it amazes me that even people, born back then or later, are actually in America and don't know about good stuff like this yet listen to now hiphop.
Method Mans 2nd verse was just so hard its probably proof that he's committed 1st degree murder before. He shoots up the whole studio here like nothing
So true. There is no art it what is put out these days. None of it is even fun to listen to. I remember hearing this on a bootleg cd in like ‘99 and was physically hyped up. Same with when I first heard Biggie. It was the type of music that made people stop and listen and then erupt in excitement when the verse hit a climactic lyric! We were lucky to grow up when we did. Music today is a diluted watered down shadow of what came before. Not to say there aren’t talented artists out there but the scene in general has been in a steady decline for years.
Methodman's flow in this wuth samples of hus somngs comunv up is crazy. Gza is just legendary. One of the best intro songs if all time. Especially since Wu-Tang is forever.
rest in Peace ODB!!Rza,Gza,Method Man made the group my personal fav's what yours?Wu-Tang foe life rap today ain't the same grew up fan of the clan!!ain't hear from them in a gud min but tear up these og beats, age means nothing to these nyc poets!!
Meth was in a ridiculous zone. I still crack up at that cat saying "Freakin'-A". LOL Damn skippy, yo Rza Raw hit me. With that funky shh, that always seem to get me, open!
GZA got the loudest crowd response and his verse was dope as hell, but Method Man had the illest verse in this session, just incredible style, flow, and lyricism combined.
Back in the 90s people used to recycle verses like hell since only people who lived in the area would hear radio freestyles lol. Method Man's verse is from Bring The Pain
Bring the Pain was released in 1994. This was recorded in 1993. Besides that, using pre-written verses to different beats IS freestyle. It does not have to be specifically off the dome.
Tony Starks the homie masta killah got some deadly rhymes as well. GZA can come thru outta east shaolin with some crazy ish sometimes too. But I agree, only built for Cuban Linx is a hip hop Bible
agreed, it also works the other way around, using lines from existing songs or rhymebooks, but reguardless it is still classic hip hop and so much more than fire...to quote meth its some walkin thru hell with gasoline boots type fire 1 love family
To the base kid. This is ghost his place now watch me ace. While i stick to truth like paste. I'll get loose, reproduce you look high give me a boost. My students tried to show me the XXL freshman freestyles. I showed them this. I won.

The early 90's. The latter part of the 90's was corny. But I feel you.

Ghost dart game is in a total different classification
Every time I listen to this I feel sad. That rap music has fallen so far from what it use to be.
Sad ain't it;....we let the GOV. kill hip hop. But like anything POSITIVE & POWERFUL is a threat to you know who. Peace !! Legacy 1x....out

The real hip hop has always lived underground it’s still very well alive it’s just not the pop bubbly bs u hear on the radio.
I'm just glad we have the Wu forever
Born west coast. Forever east coast.
This is my all time favorite freestyle of all time! Dominica, Caribbean still listening

If you want to go further back that piano sample was originally from Otis Redding's Hard to Handle
Back when I had this on my old school Ipod I used to listen to this shit over and over and over. Never gets old either

Best freestyle of all time, equal to Big/Pac in Brooklyn... Meth one of top 3... NO DOUBT!! (Been looking for this for over 5- years)...
Thank god for limewire for introducing me to this back in the day
This should go for 248 minutes..no one would mind when the Wu comes through.
This The Best Freestyle I Eva Heard!

Listening late 2019. Heard this before, awesome. Meth wrecks it but Gza is my man.
Beautiful.
Beat: Come clean - Jeru the Damaja
I haven't heard this one in a minute! The Symphony is one of my favorite old-school beats and Meth wrecked it.
Peace fellow head
Page by page funky rhymes are made then sprayed in your face like a can of mase
Love how they all add there own flavor. Can't say theres a best out of them but I definatly love the Meth and original drunken master.
Everyone is rockin well...but the Gza = genius.
