@@MsDogleaf Thank you. I run a WoD game and this is one of the world building lore things I included years ago; it fit so well with this story I felt I had to share it. Children in that setting all have a low accuracy true sight, and will ocasionally mention something to a parent or trusted adult, but being children most adults do not believe them.

They have means to detect and defend themselves against all the other types of Others, but this one is a solely human Other. The Homo Malus Animus was only found because all the Others react negativly to it. "If the things you fear, fear something, it is wise to also fear that thing!"

As an autistic, I find this kind of funny. I picture if I was in this universe. I am among a group of humans interacting with aliens. And an alien asks me if I can sense the other. I simply respond with if you're referring to magic then yes I could tell you about the time I adopted a cat with a Split tail and it taught me necromancy. I would have to agree with @MeanMartian, as most that can sense the Others in the story would also hide the fact with the understood consequences of speaking on. As pointed out with the inquisitions and witch hunts because humanity likes to live in the 'safety' of not knowing and will do anything (including extreme and irrational) to 'protect' what they see as the status quo being cruelly written in blood of human history as 'saviors'. As I said in my own post here that I will not confirm or deny the possibility of the Others, though it is a conclusion that looking at anthropological studies might come to in explaining the wide (and accepted) beliefs of somethings worldwide today.
