Most likely it will happen. It’s quite a passionate topic of mine and I’d love to dive deeper into it, so hopefully winter might kickstart further exploration
Generally I ensure unease via sound design. One of my favorite motifs to rip on are the big sirens in your community- air raid, nuke plant, or tornado sirens. I forget exactly how you patch it but I think having a *long* envelope or LFO tied to a synced saw oscillator’s detune is the starting point. I’ve also always felt that the vocal delivery of Bulgarian white voice is beautifully haunting. They use major seconds and voice leading that’d make Bach cry. When we’re talking outside of ambient music, I *love* a good industrial honking noise for the same purpose.
Oooh, great tip on the long envelope into a saw oscillator- basically mirroring our association with distress and disaster. I usually get really spooky theremin vibes using an LFO to modulate the Deerhorn on the PB, it makes it sound so off and broken
@@tworoundrobins Thank you!! Will have a look into this one. The norns is such a treasure box full of surprises. I love this community. Hopefully I can contribute to this once my kids give me some space.
Would love to see you make some horror soundscapes based on what you’re talking about here! It’s something I’d love to dive into myself.

What Eldritch horrors await as we fathom the depths of the void.

To me, the most unsettling sound is the sound of my empty wallet.
