I have not had the pleasure yet, but I have held and owned many pro bodies and I love the feel of them all. My current pro bodies are the 1Ds III and the 1Dx II, and I love them. The various 5D's that I have are nice and all, but I much more prefer the Pro bodies. It just feels right. I also have a fully kitted out Sony A77, and I really enjoy that menu system as well. As you can see, my trend is for older gear. :)
@@FromTheAshesWeRise I now have three Nikon DSLR's and they still perform well. I just use them for photos. Video is done with My Mirrorless. The R1 I like holding the camera more than the Nikon Z9 which I sold because it was too big for me. I will just stick with the Z8. Your Son is growing TALL. Cheers! 🐎
Thanks, Simon. There are no big surprises on the list. I think 2024 was a good year for gear across the board. Looking forward to 2025. I don't own a 50 mm lens. Never have. I'm not even sure what I would use it for. The price of the RF 50 mm f/1.4 VCM looks very attractive. I think my next lens would be the RF 70-200 f/2.8.
Indeed Cathy, I assume a 50mm is great for portraits and videos of those supposedly very smart animals, (usually) without wings .. aren't those called "humans" ?🙈 The choice between f1.2 and f1.4 will depend between either priority for bokeh or for silence .. For your next lens, you'll have to decide on external vs internal zoom and the color .. I'd like one myself, but then my camera bag will no longer fit into the airline regulations 😞
@WernerBirdNature I would absolutely choose the internal zoom but my bank account says no. I just wouldn't use the lens enough to justify that expense. I always reserve the right to change my mind. LOL! I would be very happy with a used external zoom for a great price.
@@cathco9 How about getting one tax free in Japan for 2570$ ? Maybe a bit less tempting compared to 2500 versus 3660 in euro ? Used external zooms are plenty available, on the EF mount and nearly 50% heavier 🙈
People are billing the X-M5 as "The Camera For The Content Age". Those numbers for the Z50 II, and especially the R1, make it pretty clear that there are a LOT of people who just don't need more resolution for what they are creating. It makes me wonder if traditional prints are going the way of vinyl records and film. Vinyl and film didn't totally disappear, and both have even made a bit of a resurgence. But we know that they are never really coming back like they were before. Maybe there really isn't enough demand for manufacturers to put a lot of resources into super high resolution bodies. If I didn't already feel enough like a dinosaur, that thought is sort of icing on the cake.
Just scripting the review vid now and I got to say, the f1.4 is my new favourite - offering upgrades over the f1.2. That being said, I am keeping both lenses ;)
If the sales data only includes revenue, it does not tell the real market penetration. It would be useful to see number of units sold. Some sources are saying that compact camera sales are very high right now but may not be reflected if only looking at revenue.
Getting gear to customers was a big challenge in 2024 and it looks like 2025 has the same challenge. We are still seeing shortages of the R1 and R5 as well.
Again, I wanna say that Canon R10 is losing the market to the Nikon Z50 Mark-2. The R10 had a huge opportunity but failed due to a lack of a headphone jack, C-log3 and the worst kit lens as well as an overall zoom lens. The difference between R10 and R7 could be just weather sealing, big battery and IBIS. Fuji sells X-M5 with an excellent kit lens and excellent luts. Canon made the worst APS-C lens ever which is an absolute night blind.
I held the Canon EOS R1 in my hands and I liked it. Cheers!

I have all three 50mm lenses The 1.2 is the studio lens on the R51. The 50 f1.4 is my preferred choice for run and gun. It's an amazing lens.
Canon knows their move, flagship doesnt always have to be good at everything, like in their past dslr that the 5d sells better than the flagship 1dx

Yeah Simon I was looking at that RF 50 1.4 but that RF 28-70 is talking to me do you have that lens also?

SonyA1II is sold out every where. We cant even get one here in US. These numbers will go way up when the camera is more available.

Poor sony releasing a flagship but still cant top the flagship of canon R1 (which many 'ppl' say its a r3ii instead hahaha)
Lots of variables here. Could be related to shipped units.
