Opera stupenda di Vivaldi e bellissima esecuzione. Anthony Johnson (Mamud) dovrebbe però imparare l'italiano.
La registrazione è ottima ma al minuto 1:59:48 l'audio si interrompe per 4 minuti cancellando l'aria stupenda "Crudele, si brami", stessa cosa al minuto 2:17:00 cancellando l'aria "Cara sorte di chi nata"

La verità in cimento (Truth in Contention) is an opera by Antonio Vivaldi to a libretto by Giovanni Palazzi. The opera, Vivaldi's 13th, was premiered during the Carnival at Venice in 1720. The work is dedicated to Count Sava Vladislavich,[1] a Russian legate of Serb origin who resided in Venice from 1716 to 1722. The work is listed as RV 739 in the Vivaldi catalogue.
Mamud had two sons, one by his favourite Damira and one by the Sultana Rustena. He had them exchanged at birth, so that Melindo, in truth the son of Damira, is thought to be the legitimate heir, a position rightfully held by Zelim. When marriage is proposed between Melindo and Rosane, the heiress to another Sultanate (who is in fact beloved by Zelim), Mamud resolves to reveal the true state of affairs. After various twists and turns, Zelim inherits the larger portion of his empire, while Melindo contents himself with a secondary kingdom (Rosane's country) and is allowed to marry the fickle princess Rosane. This leaves everyone satisfied.
This is an exceptional, particular Vivaldi's opera! Fascinating! Treasure!💖💞💓

This opera Vivaldi 1720 dedicated to Serbian Count Sava Lukich Vladislavich-Raguzinsky , diplomat in service of Russian Tzar Peter The Great.
For many years, this has been my top favorite edition, and til today, i still haven’t come across with a single interpretation, be it a recording or a live performance, that surpass this master rendition. Perfect gem, the whole world must get acquainted with it! Evviva!! 🎶⚡️✨🎶

Apenas me di cuenta que ese tenor es Rolfe Johnson; que buena voz tenía! Afortunadamente alcanzó a grabar este Vivaldi.
La migliore registrazione di un'opera di Vivaldi.
E forse il peggior tenore che mai abbia sentito pronunciare l'italiano.

@@2urik actually, I was thinking more of individual singers (e.g. Stutzmann, Mingardo) rather than the work in its entirety. I'm not a great fan of Spinosi.

Why are there so many silent sections?
Spinosi ist eine Fehlbesetzung mit seinen fast schon ins Lächerliche überzogenen Sforzandi als Dauerfeuerwerk - hart am Rand zur Karikatur! Und bei den atemlosen Tempi, mit denen sie teilweise durch die Partitur rasen, frage ich mich, ob die Musiküsse nach beats-per-minute bezahlt werden. Schade um das fantastische Solo-Ensemble, das sich heutzutage in der Qualität nur mit größten Schwierigkeiten zusammenstellen lässt. Und schade um das eigentlich wunderschöne Werk, das eine würdigere Behandlung verdient hätte.
