2 years later i hope you didnt give up and still have the mixer!!ill have to do the same thing!!i have the version with the cassette recorder and like 25 years ago during a jam party turned into hell when a friend dropped a big bottle of stella artois on it and then the mixer went behind the table it was on crashed on the floor behind ripping the power cord away from the fitting!!it took me years to finally repair the plug i was younger i couldnt find the pinout there were like 13 wires i think!!2 years ago i found the pinout on the web and ordered a plug and hook it all up and it turned on!!but now there is distortion probably because of the stella artois!!ill have to open it all!!!!cheers man!!
I like watching you break things 😂nöp nöp nöp Forgive me if you already know this, but it seems to be what you are misunderstanding. Faders are linear potentiometers. They are a long conductive strip of resistive material with a wiper. So to test one you need to measure conductivity between the wiper and one end of the resistive strip. There should be continuous conductivity (otherwise the audio will pop and cut out). And there also needs to be a change in resistance from one end to the other. So an oscilloscope is probably overkill to check this. You just need to check the resistance with a ohm meter between the wiper and one end of the strip.
It could be that the channel fader (poti) steering the op-amp and have not direct nf signal.. Because you have only one fader contact but the channel is stereo.. check the voltage during manipulation on fader... This maybe helps you...
Hi, how are you? Thanks for this video, I'm about to buy a fostex 450 and I'm going to have to repair channel 8, it's very useful to see how you disarmed the console to know what I'm going to find, were you able to repair it? greetings!
@@carstenmoss5025 Hi, unfortunately, I don't have it, and I checked where I found the 450 service manual but had no luck. However, I did a quick comparison between the block diagram of the 454 from the owner's manual and the one for the 450, and they seem almost identical. There's a good chance that the 450 service manual could work for the 454 as well, or at least be useful.

2years later and the project still sits in a box somewhere... I have not gave up, but I procrastinated

i was not yet. i am still procrastinating on it... :(
@@curiouscomputer i hope you can fix it, today i purchese it and works great, sounds really cool
Hi Mutz, the 48V from powersupply is for the Phanthom mic I think....
Yes i know, that the +48v goes to the mic phantom and the +12v and -12v goes to the opamps
Is there a way to clean the faders without tearing it down that far?
Probably not actually. You could try spraying deoxit through the gap when the mixer is fully assembled
Hello have you figured out how to fix this mixer?
No i still have the parts laying around, havent touched it since
Hi, i'm also trying to repair a fostex 450 and i found the service manual, with schematics and all. If you need it write me!
I would love to get it.
i would revisit the project after a long time. you can message me toby@analogic.ch
@@curiouscomputer Sent you an email :)
You wouldn't happen to know where I can find the schematics for the Fostex 454 as well would you?

12v plus and 12v minus is for the opamps, they work mostly with +/- ... Check on google for that.
