Boogada boogada boogada deserves a higher spot. I know it's your guys opinions but it is definitely one of their best albums. My Right, Hey Suburbia, Supermarket Fantasy, sunshine etc..So many classic sw songs on that record. This is like when Green Day fans put 1039 smoothed out slappy hours and kerplunk towards the bottom of their lists it truly baffles me since those early albums layed the foundation to what was their sound. The same can be said for My Brain Hurts as well.
I agree about 1039/Kerplunk I think had those pretty high in GD video, but I think part of it for me is that I had both the GD releases in 94/95 and Boogada I don't think I heard until 02/03, so at that point I already had nearly a dozen weasel albums to pick from. I ended up gravitating more towards TCD and that era and never really connected with some of the early catalog. But I still think the early stuff is a fun listen once in a while. Thanks for watching!
I also love Television City Dream and would probably put it in S or A. I just prefer the mix of fast aggression with the catchy pop punk. Its more in line with a traditional Fat Wreck sound, which I tend to gravitate towards.
I really like Emo ha. Acknowledge, Let Go, 2-7 Split... And I enjoy the Linger cover more than the I Can See Clearly Cover on My Brain Hurts. But agreed, that album and Anthem are great and I'm not too fond of the debut and Wiggle is OK.
@zooey409 I agree about Emo. There's definitely some gems on there, and lyrically it's fucking S tier. A few flops, but I'll take the good with the bad. And the intention was always a lo-fi record, so the production level is an artistic choice. The shitting on this record is a partially digested opinion from these guys
This vid just got suggested to me by the algorithm, which figures because I'm a huge Screeching Weasel fan. I'm one of the idiots who got their logo tattooed on me. So here's my pointless ranking: Self-titled: C, lotta funny songs on there, and when you remember/realize it was written by a 19 year old in a mental hospital, that can help put things into perspective. Boogada - C, bordering on B, it's a true classic. My Brain Hurts - A, nearly perfect, pop-punk defined. Wiggle - S, my favorite of theirs forever. Such a bitter and dark album with a smattering of the trademark Weasel humor. Anthem - A, I might say their most underrated, short and to the point. How to make enemies - A, yet another masterpiece. Bark like a dog - C, I only warmed up to this one recently, for a long time this was my vote for their worst album. TVCD - B, bordering on C, it's a solid album but something's just off. Emo - D, it's got a few songs I really like, but it's pretty meh Major Label Debut - C, its fine. Teen Punks - C, I have a fair amount of history with this album, but upon revisiting it's not all that great. First World Manifesto - F Carnival - F Baby Fat - F- Some Freaks - F Awful Disclosures - D, it's okay.
@@PunkRockRadar I was following all the Weasel bullshit far too closely at the time of First World and Carnival, Ben was so much suckier than usual so it completely ruined any chance those albums had. Baby Fat, I'd be amazed if anyone actually, truly enjoys that trainwreck. Some Freaks just really did nothing for me, the first track was really all I kinda liked. Maybe I should revisit that one but I'm in no hurry. Maybe I'll hear it one day 20 years later and be like "Huh, this ain't so bad" like I did with Bark Like A Dog.
as a tattooed Weasel fan too, I can mostly agree with these. Some slight rank adjustments for me but yea. and I'll be honest I have a N/A opinion of the new records because I never gave them the time of day. Calling them Screeching weasel albums even feels weird haha. stick to the classics and you wont be disappointed!
@@ghouliejams Me 'n my friends called 'em Ben Weasel & The Murder Junkies, Ben Weasel & The Yes Men, or just The Ben Weasel Band the last couple times I saw 'em. They really ain't SW anymore.
My rankings in order: Anthem, My Brain Hurts, Wiggle, How to Make Enemies, Bark Like a Dog, Kill the Musicians, Boogada, and then everything else in a bottom tier. I think without the context, SW is probably a difficult band to get into. I was just getting into pop punk in the early 90s when I heard SW…and not many bands had their signature sound back then. Now, thanks to Tom DeLonge being inspired by early SW…nearly every pop punk band has the same song style with better production. But, SW was one of the innovators. The gateway between Ramones and modern pop punk 😂
I'm going to have to dig back into their discography. I've been stuck on their early stuff for years so I can't remember any of the post-90s material. How about a Ten Foot Pole or Down by Law ranking?
Thanks for checking out the video! Going to do TFP / Pulley probably over the summer. Down By Law eventually, I need to familiarize myself with the last couple of albums for sure.
And for records there Was outsiders tv show. And yes based on book and movies And also Sometime they Come back Was a Stephen king movie, that is sort like poor man it. ( i know the story predate it ) But like is about a guy name jim Norman. And his brother die by the Greasers bully. And When the got murder. The Greasers bully haunted them
I know this is an "album rank" but Four on the Floor has some fantastic Weasel songs on it. I think they were included on TVCDs rerelease but that shouldnt count. and their Ramones cover album is REALLY good.

calling the Weasel guitar leads "nursery rhyme" is so wrong. Ive been in the scene for years really havent heard that..that is some super slanderous bs lol
And also THE LILLINGTONS RIVERDALES. One main guy remind me of Robert russler from i think the outsiders and also Sometime they Come back TEENAGE BOTTLEROCKET HUNTINGTONS And the queers Which is like Ramones meet South park.
Sorry fellas but everything after Anthem pretty much sucks save for a song or two on each subsequent album. Boogada and Brain Hurts are their best. The super early stuff especially the debut (which mostly sucks) was very unique in that it fused legit hardcore with the pop stuff. Also I'm 50 and was around when they were first putting out music. Everything up until Anthem was still enjoyed by "real" punks.
Baby Fat Act I? That is quite the contrarian take, if you are serious good for you! I definitely think there are some good songs on there. We both love FWM though
Terrible list. Emo was a good Crimpshrine style album and teen punks in heat and the stuff following it was slop. Insane and embarrassing that post-2010 albums are above My Brain Hurts.

It almost sounds like Bad Religion to start with but more fun.

I agree 100% TCD is the album where they put it together for me, the mix of fat with classic lookout style hits the spot 👍

We came off a bit too harsh on Emo, it's not a bad album, just definitely not my favorite, but I can't get behind the Linger cover haha
@zooey409 I agree about Emo. There's definitely some gems on there, and lyrically it's fucking S tier. A few flops, but I'll take the good with the bad.

FYI the song nightbreed from the Major label ep was originally a Gore Gore Girls song.

I agree I think it's Ben's vocals that may be too quirky for the masses and that's why Descendents get more shine but for me SW IS pop punk.
Delong is 1 of *THE* worst singers ever. Weasel ain't the best singer either. Joe King is a genius & the Queers are SO much better. 🤾

When you guys do riverdale Can bring up the fact one the guys look like Robert rusler

Hatebreed is on the list eventually, but S = Rise of Brutality / Perseverance.

Not really.... The best music comes from nursery rhymes & folk.
Pretty sure Jughead himself calls them "nursery rhyme" leads, not meant to be slanderous
ok now queers and mr t experience
And also THE LILLINGTONS
RIVERDALES. One main guy remind me of Robert russler from i think the outsiders and also Sometime they Come back
TEENAGE BOTTLEROCKET
HUNTINGTONS
And the queers Which is like Ramones meet South park.
Might do Lillingtons/TBR together this year
@melvinsherman What does the Queers hafta do w/ s.park? The Queers are infinitely better than ALL those bands. Period!
I like all their albums Ben Weasel is a genius
The remaster of Anthem For a New Tomorrow is so good, would have put it to "S" for me
Hahahahahaha . No. Joe King is . 🎼
Thanks for having me on once again! Curious what everyone thinks of our ranking of the newer records 😁
Hopefully many more to come!
Once to many key members leave a band, I usually stop paying attention to them, I wish it was just called Ben Weasel at this point.
