When this was first shown it was thought this was a different take on Playmates Toys Sergeant Bananas. There was some discussion as to whether Playmates was taking issues with Super 7 copying their figures and possibly had them cease and desist. As you mentioned he was in the TMNT Magazine back in the day (Issue 4) so this is actually the deepest of deep cuts.
Brian from Super7 mentioned that because Sgt Bananas didn't appear in any TMNT media, that the rights were much trickier with Nickelodeon, Playmates and the original designer of the figure. They couldn't reach a solution so this was the closest they could get, since a version of the character was in a TMNT book
I got this for Christmas from my wife. It is awesome. My daughter used the slip cover as a Mandalorian helmet… she’s a free-thinker, I’m sure you can relate. The one thing about this figure I want to see; how he fits with the S7 Party Wagon
A Jethro Tull reference! Used to be my favorite of the classic rock bands back in my younger days! 😁 Anyway, on to Guerilla Gorilla: clever name! I have absolutely no memory or knowledge of this character at all, but he does look kind of cool. As far as TMNT characters go, he feels more like a deep cut and not an essential part of the collection. Also, WAY too many accessories for me to keep track of. ~Damon
Go rilla Go rilla Go!! I like it's dumb smiley face, shades, n banana bazooka. This one jus makes me laugh. Good stuff. Top one Nice one edit: Ape-ocalypse now!! Haha

This figure looks great, definitely interested in it. Confused me too at first with the Sergeant Bananas thing 😂

He does not fit with it 😂
Kodos and Krang had some pretty big boxes too
This figure is looking so cool Kyle...
Every object that has ever existed reminds Kyle of someone when they were young.
A blessing and a curse
I got mine today. It's a super impressive figure. Maybe my favorite TMNT Ultimate? Honestly the 75 dollar price tag feels more than fair for this guy.
