  • Neethlingshof Estate, just outside Stellenbosch, is one of South Africa's historic wine estates. The estate produces all its own grapes, and makes, matures and bottles all Neethlingshof wines on the estate.
The history of Neethlingshof Estate spans a period of more than 300 years. In 1692 Willem Barend Lubbe, a German settler, began farming the site he had been granted by Simon van der Stel on the Bottelary Hills overlooking False Bay. He named the farm De Wolwedans, which means "The Dance of Wolves", because he mistook the packs of jackals which roamed the countryside in those early days of European settlement for wolves.
Neethlingshof Estate is a beautiful and charming wine farm at the end of an iconic Stone Pine avenue, offering a wine tasting centre, a restaurant and an art gallery. The manor house, completed in 1814, currently houses The Restaurant at Neethlingshof, while the cellar was completed in 1802.
