First went there in 1962 after moving to Kuakini St, behind the old Yamada Grocery and Feed Store. Through Kawananakoa Intermediate and. McKinley HS and the years beyond, it has never lost that flavor for how life was back then. As a kid I would look at their business licenses they kept since the 50s when they first opened. I remember sitting on the old, fountain, rotating seats at the counter. For those who have never eaten a real hamburger before McDonalds came along, eat at Jane’s Fountain.
Maybe treat local businesses like you treat Walmart and Amazon.....then maybe they can survive! Costco outdoor lines probably spread more Covid19 than us running into our local stores for 1 minute and leaving!
I love their pork tofu and always order that, sometimes with two eggs over easy right on top. Change is coming right around the corner. Hang in there Karen and family. Their phone number is 533-1238. They are a national treasure this humble little restaurant.
Every single person who has talked trash about tourists needs to step up and support the businesses that will go under without that tourist money. STEP UP!
Google says they don't allow dine in or deliver? They should use apps like uber eats and charge 20%-30% more to cover the delivery cost. If not they are self inflicting there own closure...
That Cares act money was given to big businesses, not little guys. They are currently trying to get the senate to sign off on the Heroes act which the house has already passed, but at a reduced amount of funding. Stay tuned.
