Handball is a sport that you'd think would be more popular. It's high scoring, fast paced, lots of action, similar play to football and lacrosse, and the court size (same as basketball) lends itself to fitting in anywhere.
i know you made the connection, but handball and lacrosse are both sports that I would assume would be more popular TBH both interesting sports with a level of uniqueness but also not too dissimilar to already popular sports
@@chadchadderton I'm a lacrosse fan and former player, personally I think it's not as popular cus its kinda hard to get into economically. Though the PLL is doing a great job popularizing the sport
Ah Buda! And Pest!! Me and my wife once visited- she’d remark on how stunning the ladies were. I already realised that- I just continued to judge with my peripheral vision
We have the brand new Atletics Stadium in Budapest, capacity 35 000 and opened last week. Home of the Athletic World Championship in August, so the whole world is going to know it. :)
The Groupama Arena, MVM Arena, Puskas Arena and Boszik Arena are great. Illovszky Rudolf Stadion and Hidegkugi Nandor Stadion are pretty sweet for a small ones. Magyar Bros is ice hockey popular in Hungary? I've come to learn there are professional teams in Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia I didn't know hockey was played in those countries. Has there always been interest in the sport in Hungary and places like Croatia or is this a new thing that is growing?
Hungary were among the top 5-7 teams during the 1930s. During the second half of the 80s, they dropped out of the top 20 ranked teams, but have been doing better lately. They've played in the top World Championship division three times (2009, 2016, 2023) in modern days. Despite being on the losing side in most matches, their fans were really loud and supportative of the team in this year's WC in Finland, making good atmosphere in the games they played. Hungary have one team (Fehérvár AV19, based in Székesfehérvár) that plays in the International Central-European Hockey League (ICEHL), which have a majority of Austrian teams. Their "own" 10 team league includes teams from Romania.
Look up the IIHF World Rankings, Hungary are a second tier team. They won promotion last year from Division 1 up to the Championship, but were relegated after this year's tournament (May 2023), finishing with three points in 7 games. They can beat countries like UK, Poland, Italy, Japan, etc., but against even middle teams at the top level (Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, Norway), they get pummeled.
@@andersnilsson8303 Hey thank you for that. I'm interested in hockey in Europe but it doesn't get any media exposure here in Canada. Thank you for taking the time to explain it to me and anybody else.
It is stadiums not dports complexes. That is why he never covets swimming pools and motor racing in these videos. But he should have included an athletics stadium.
Oh missing still alot cmon Guess you gotta start again and redo this one. Including really like really all stadium of Budapest.. When you started putting and including in this video not only football stadiums and you put halls of handball and ice hockey and other sports still missing a lot others then look it up.. There is a big new aquatics center hall build for the FINA worldchampionships then a athletics stadium build for the athletic championships both very visible along the Danube river.. missing ... Research more deep instead of putting "old pitch " Budapest a real capital of sports with "s" Including many, with many venues for each kind of sports... Shame still this city haven't had a Olympic championships yet... Also not to forget the nearby motorsports racetrack..
Wow...your pronunciation is almost perfect! Keep up the good work, i love your videos!
