The blind man was excited. He felt the bag and was happy it had body soap. He was saying thank you and encouraged the kids to also take the candy bars. Great job for sharing.

The blind boy he said "I got it you didn't (teasing the little kids). He was so happy when I knew what was in the bag you gave him he said he is going to have soap to bathe tonight...lol This is so touching how much happiness you and your wife brought to them.

The place is so remote I'm sure they've never seen a foreigner before so part of them is scared and these people are also shy that's why some of the kids rather not take the candies. I don't think they know about Covid-19 being that they live so high up in the mountains that's why they got scared when you guys wear masks. The young blind man was so happy & he said to the kids "I also got a bag", he can't see but he can feel so he said there's a soap in his bag that he can take a bath with. He also said thank you. Bring tears into my eyes seeing how happy the young blind man reacting to the gift. Anyway, thank you both for your generosity.

Sort of reminds me when I was trekking in Laos 20 years ago . After 8 hours of trekking through the jungle we came to this village , it must have been strange for them when a couple of white guys turn up and stay the night especially as they have never seen any Europeans before. The kids never stoped following me around , I never had chocolate or anything for them it was hard enough carrying bottles of water in my backpack. When I woke up in the morning about 6 o’clock I went outside the wooden house only to find a bunch of kids waiting to see me . It was a surreal experience one that I will never forget . I will never forget the leeches that I found on my body either. Merry Christmas 🎁

Todd and Nenee, I'm one of your regular subscribers and have been watching your channel for awhile. Hmong people including myself are shy just like shy people in general. So, let me say "thank you" on behalf of my Hmong people in this village and elsewhere in Laos where you and your wife have visited. By the way, the young man who is blind was saying "candy oh I got candy" and then said "thank you" in Laotian. Yes, he was very happy for the candy 🍬 you gave him as we can tell by his facial expression and gesture. Thank you again and happy new year 🎉 ...

And of course, clothing. I'm sure there are other things, but this what I see requested the most from rural Hmong villages in Laos.

13:03 A kid says "they're giving it to you". The young blind man (after receiving the gift) says something like: "I got it (the bag), you guys don't!" Jokingly, teasing the kids. 14:00 "candy? yes, yes, Thank you. Thank you for the candy. 14:12 He (jokingly) says "it's soap! (like bathing soap)".
The young man has a pretty tough accent. I was born and raised in America, so I speak more English-Hmong. English-Hmong has kind of deviated from Laos-Hmong, a little similar to American-English and British-English. So some nuances I didn't catch, but that's more or less what he was saying. All his excited screams were mostly just the way he talks. Yes, I'm sure he was happy to receive gifts, but some Hmong people (especially elders) use a lot of "OoooHhh!" or "Aaahhh!" in their sentences, and those excited sounds were mostly just that.

Wow it makes one think what we in the west deem as hardship rather humbled to see items within your charming videos , yes song time = ( Love’s in need of love today = Stevie Wonder ).

The electricity seems to be pretty well prevalent to all the village's, very shy people, true Aboriginals in Australia are very shy and some have no power or running water today , but that's here. The blind bloke was so happy with your kindness 😊

Todd & Nenee. Thankyou so much. The Hmong kids they did not spoke Lao and they did not understood Lao. I think most of their parent were understood Lao little bit . Hmong kids always shy that way. My past as same. I love / miss Laos my birth place beautiful country.
