Correction to this video: Balvenie has confirmed to me that they don't use artificial color for 'all' their whiskies, and emphasized their single barrel releases as an example. So I would say this does in fact most likely have artificial coloring despite what I was originally told by a rep.
Just found your channel, nice job! Good info without the clown show for attention grab. I realize this is 2 years later but this bottle for $150-170 today is a hard find. Most re-sellers have it at $400 or more. Supply/demand
That's too bad! It's really a delicious and fantastic whisky. But sadly its now $50 more than it was just a year ago so it's feeling very overpriced. Between the continual inflation of scotch and tariffs introduced late last year, it isn't a good time to buy older malts
I found it in the 50ml (airplane bottle) at a Liquor store in Fullerton, CA.. They have the 17 doublewood, 14 Caribbean and 12yr. The 17 was amazing one of my favorites. I found it in my area (Venice CA) for $163
Well word is that it’s being discontinued so if you like it I highly recommend asking around if some stores will get it for you because it sounds like it won’t be around much longer.
I recently heard that the 17 doublewood is no longer being made anymore. Is this true? Trying to research online and couldn't find it anywhere. Can anyone confirm this?
As of today, I see it on the shelves. Just purchased bottle for $154.99 Bit disappointed on the overall taste/price ratio I’m glad to have purchased and tried it
If I didn't have the audio on, and judged your opinion of the scotch based soley by your facial expressions at the time of clingesting, I would have thought that you diskiked it immensely. Your face looked like Lucy's when she first tried Vitameatavegamin. Priceless!
Mark Solomon when I ‘taste’ it’s definitely a bit more serious then when just enjoying a dram. Hard for me to concentrate and smile at the same time :P
The brand ambassador for Glenfiddich for the NA southeast told me both glenfiddich and balvenie are natural color. I don't know if she is legally obligated to be correct but I have no reason to think she would be wrong.
I did just buy a bottle for $150 and it is going up even higher. I see it with Stag Jr. My shop and everywhere else used to sell it for $70...now it is $130.( IK it is a little dif), but the point is these higher end whiskeys are going to keep going up in price. I just bit the bullet with the 17 and I tell ya, I will be nursing that bottle.
Do you mean which is better? Definitely the 17 yr. But, if you watch my review of the 14 it is also a fantastic dram. Especially if you like rum. Rum cask finishes are relatively rare and are definitely a nice change of pace from typical sherry or ex-bourbon cask whiskies.
I’ve also found lots of people who aren’t big on whisky love the 14 Caribbean cask. So it’s definitely a good top shelf dram to have on hand for when friends are around too!

Love the content. Happy you are back !!!
Thank you for sharing the great bottle.
Lovely greetings from 🇩🇪

Thanks! Yes unfortunately prices are crazy nowadays
Gone for a year and just picking right up where you left off🤣. Ok. Good to have new videos. See you next week
Great review! I have not been able to find the 17 year old Doublewood... I guess it's not a priority in this market.

@@th-rv1wr It may happen the next time I'm allowed to travel into the USA and California...
This is my favorite whiskey so far. I have trouble finding it in my area,

Always enjoyed your whisky reviews. Keep going !
Thanks! I’m getting married this week so I have not had time to edit. I’ll be back at it after the celebrations end
@@MaltMondays CONGRATULATIONS !!
I always thought the 17 was a nice step up from the 12. It’s about triple the cost but that’s not matters if you want to make good financial choices 😉
It is good but not $150 good
I recently heard that the 17 doublewood is no longer being made anymore. Is this true? Trying to research online and couldn't find it anywhere. Can anyone confirm this?
I’ve been hearing this as well. I’ll reach out to some of the Balvenie reps I know and see if they can confirm.
As of today, I see it on the shelves. Just purchased bottle for $154.99
Bit disappointed on the overall taste/price ratio
I’m glad to have purchased and tried it
Yeah I don’t think it’s worth $150. It was good when it was $110

Personally I don’t think it’s worth the steep price
ive just bought one for 125 Euro, i think i will hold on that, becouse prices of this bottle going crazy.
Yes now that it is discontinued prices will keep going up
Are you shure for the natural colour?
The brand ambassador for Glenfiddich for the NA southeast told me both glenfiddich and balvenie are natural color. I don't know if she is legally obligated to be correct but I have no reason to think she would be wrong.
I thought the 12 was my favorite, but this is it!
Nice!

Yep. Ultimately all the prices are going up so at some point we all just have to pay up or drink something different :/
@@MaltMondays Yep. Same with Blantons...was $70...now $100. Like you said if you want it ya gotta pay the new price.
What about vs the 14yr Caribbean cask?

Very good review
Thanks!
Now these bottles in California are $400. A year later & it’s a wonderful fluid
Wow. $4O0 is way too much for this. You can get much better malts at half that price
I loved it I paid &193 yikes!
Whisky prices are so variable from one place to another, that’s crazy!
Burping in the video will be well received ........... in Hungary! 🤦♂️
