  • We covered a range of topics in this episode: from artists Daijiro Hama's modern take on sumi ink, a surprising moment when one of the people we were with named Mitsumi Ryuji showed us his 1st place award winning full body tattoo, photographer Naoyuki Ogino's rare 20 year inside look at the world of Geisha apprentices - called Maiko - in Kyoto's Gion district, a tattoo artist named Daniel Ray Brewster who has started in tattoo schools through Japan, to a woman named Kyoko Ibe who has won several awards including the Kyoto Cultural Merit Laureate - whose technique revolves around taking ancient paper, recycling it herself and turning it into amazing works of art.
