    What an enchanting sacred well. I love that the frogs have spawned in it and the mossy stones are a delight. It is certainly a very thin place and I am sure that the Little People love the energy there.

    The circling of a holy object in a clockwise direction (so that the object is always to one's right) is also an ancient Indian practice, called pradakshina. I stayed in a village which had a saint's shrine in it and it was considered auspicious to perform pradakshina around the tomb. Like you with the well, you walked around it an odd number of times. I love it when traditions link up like that.

    • @DanusIrishHerbGarden
      @DanusIrishHerbGarden  3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Me too Bob. Actually, the name of this well refers to a Greek myth, the same story of which also appears in native Australian folklore. It is so interesting isn't it.

      They link up because they are the same traditions. Have you visited Rudstone (Rudras Stone) in Yorkshire? You will understand the comment, as no doubt you understand the lingam symbol.
      At Thornborough, not too distant we also see Orion's(Osiris) Belt, just as we do at Cairo!

    Thank you. I did not know this. I'm from nz an the old ways were left behind when my ancestors immigrated from Ireland, also our history only goes back 200 years. Was raised with indigenous ways of the Maori

      How wonderful to be raised that way. I have always felt that there is something of a connection between the ancient Celts and the Maori. I think it is the art - it can be quite similar.

    I visited a few sacred wells in Cornwall when I travelled there. We don’t have them here as such in Australia. Although the indigenous people have sacred water holes that have special significance to their own culture. It makes me want to create a sacred well here in my own garden.

    • @DanusIrishHerbGarden
      @DanusIrishHerbGarden  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Even if you cannot create a well - if you don't have a stream source, you could certainly create a water altar or sorts. There are some photos in the blog, which I am in the middle of writing, which might spark some ideas.💚

    Almost forgot to mention that the name well itself, actually comes from Velli another name of The Goddess in her fecund and sexual aspect.
    In India Friday is named after Her. She is therefore the direct counterpart of Freya.
    Velli gives us the word valley, veil, Vale etc.

    By the way, Danu, Dan, Daniel, etc are all names derived from Devi Yoni, (The Goddess of the Yoni). Devi Yoni contracts to Deyani (Dianna) or else DeJuni (Juno/June).
    The Goddess has 8 main aspects, and has by all accounts 108 names.
    Devi Yoni is the sexual/fecund aspect of The Goddess. Lalitha or Lilith is just one of Her names, Neela (The Blue Goddess) is another. She gives Her Name to The Nile!
    Another aspect of Her, as you point out, is water.
    Whereas The Yoni is a main symbol, there are other main symbols too, solely attributable to Her. These are; The Tree, The Egg, The Lion, The Serpent and The Shell/Spiral. Beware of The Dragon which is a shared symbol. I hope that helps those who are interested.

    The plants in the water look like watercress. We have it here in the states too. I have Irish ancestors and have always been drawn to the cultures and magic of people who venerate nature. I am especially fond of Irish music and art, though it's mostly called Celtic or Druidic here. I'm sure I've never experienced the fullness of it, or the context of it in everyday life. But I have my imagination... I hope you have many happy blessings. Thank you.

    Hi Terri and Lol, yes, this is the Mother Goddess I connect to Brigit, that is honor on a spring pound of water. Sorry!!! for the patriarcal ignorance of the catholic church!!! Yes, they are portals into other realms, angelic for example, and into our spiritual selves. The fairies know it too and they gather around the hawthorn because of its shape like in the celtic patterns, they through the patterns mediate and distribute the energy. They together are keepers like you guys, exactly like you guys!!! you are a blessing to see how lovely you take care of it-them!!! Water is a life force, is not just an elemental, it vehiculates life thoughtout the universes into material existance. It vibrates into material existance and consciousness... Blessings and more blessings!!! Peace and Love and Light in Spirit and Strenght!!!!!😃🙏🌹 Thank you for helping and mediating for my anscestral memories to come back!!!
