WORLDS QUICKEST VW CADDY PANEL VAN - 1210BHP RS3 ENGINE

- Richard Milton was at Santa Pod Raceway for the GTI Spring Festival, in his 1210BHP RS3 powered VW Caddy, built and installed at his workshop (Kernow Transporters Ltd), and modified and tuned by Storm Developments, and running a Precision 76/75 Turbo.
Richard, who previously the day before ran a 10.0 down in Cornwall, loaded up his Caddy and drove to Santa Pod, to compete in the VWDRC Heads Up competition. He was also aiming to get the Caddy into the 9's, which he did, with a best run of 9.97 @ 146mph. As far as we know, that is a World Record and no other Panel Van Caddy has run quicker. However, once done, Richard put on his road legal wheels and tyres, and went back out to have a go at the street legal World Record, which was set by Stephen Gibbons in 2017, with an 11.12 @ 120mph. Richard smashed this with a 10.63 @ 140mph. He had one more run, with a bit more boost, but this proved too much for the tyres, and Richard called it a day.
What an achievement, and what a brilliant day.

I remaped my Caddy 2.0 Tdi 150 hp to 185hp and Ithought it was quick

The reliability at that amount of power is amazing. Credit to the quality of the build to consistently run and achieve these times. Respect 👍
Not sure at what power things start breaking, but yeah it looks like a solid build by Storm Developments.

@@VeeDubRacing in remember a guy called Olly Bartlett doing effectively a 500 brake GolfR/S3 in a Touran and wished I could’ve bought it. Think the buyer broke it though.
If I had the cash it would be this RS3 spec in a Touran or R8 twin turbo mid mounted in a T5

I don't know the technicalities behind launching it, and how difficult it is. I know the blue RS3 is pushing 1000bhp and seems to launch harder. This was Richard's first run at Santa Pod, and I'm sure it will get quicker.
It all takes time to understand each vehicle there all different and newly built cars need many runs before u can aggressive launch but I'm sure you will get there Wicked caddy I was there Sunday at the pod watching

Theres a caddy van Rs3 4 wheel drive being built at eurospec automotive. I thought that was going to be the only one 😳
A few people have built Golf R ones, but this was the first RS3 powered one I have filmed. Good to know there is another one out there
Mine was built and running 2 years before they started.
This caddy is not hauling tools to work.
It is hauling a$$ everywhere.

the caddy's trap speed in the first runs at 1/4 mile is the same as 800hp rs3
That's aerodynamics for you. The Blue RS3 in the video has 1000bhp, and can trap at 160mph. 200bhp less, but 14mph faster.

@@bobbondarul7448 300bhp is plenty HP to have fun with. You don't need to chase the big power figures. Get the brakes and suspension sorted, and you will surprise a lot of cars on the road 😎😎

Already new suspension on the rear and in front everything without the sock absorbers
Really need to lower it a bit ( there are some kit's on the market for the rear) not know yet on the front how to do it
Brakes are stock at this moment
Not know what will be the appropriate turbine for my demands ( if you can help wits some ideas...)

Yes, when going from the slicks to the smaller treaded tyres, and turning the boost up, it broke traction when the power came in, hense the slower 2nd run on the treaded tyres.

Really, no one else has done it yet. You have to take into account the aerodynamic disadvantage over say an RS3 saloon. Im sure with some more setting changes for the launch, those times will come down.........stay tuned

If it can be done, someone will do it. And I say good luck to them. If I had the money or skill to do that conversion to my T5, I would not hesitate. That is what being a motor head is all about 💪💪💪

How are people affording these RS3 swaps in these cheap VW's? I was gonna do one in my MK6 Jetta because it already has a 07k but in the states a used engine is upwards of $17k not to mention the dsg and the rear end, I decided to buy another 07k for $500 and I'm building it and I'll be in it half that with having a shop build it won't be AWD but when your on a budget you do what you can

I think it is just down to some people's budget's are bigger than others, and how much of the work you do yourself.
