As someone who's been a Gundam fan for the past 6 years, Yes. Yes it is.
From a fan of 21 years! IT is a 100% some lesser songs from the older gundam series, but overall yes.
its kind of the top tier of top tier music in gundam series, probably the best within the series, at the same or above the level of gundam unicorn's, dont talk about gundam seed series with me by the way
Top of disco, top of classical, top of rock, and some really good jazz (not really a fan of Io's taste, sorry)
There are always a few amazing tracks in any Gundam series you care to look at, and the two here are definitely on that list.
So surprised that this ost didn't get nominated in the Crunchyroll awards, but it won in the Newtype awards in Japan though.
Because the Crunchyroll awards are a joke these days
You hit the nail on the head about the moments where they play the tracks,Which From Mercury is basically the “comeback theme” while Aerial Rebuild is “we back,but we’ve seen some sh*t”
This and Rebuild was the FAFO song in that episode.

"What did the person that this is theming go through. What did they see?" When I tell you the answers warrant the music, I absolutely mean it. The show's prologue is up on youtube, and its a short show with lovely music and no prior knowledge of Gundam needed to watch it if you're interested.
I'm planning to give it a go in the gap between seasonal shows so I'm not putting even more to watch on my list atm. I usually watch like 20 shows per season as they release but there's nothing like a good old fashioned binge session haha
Very subtle I guess but they gave away the who Suletta is with her age, but she hasn't been through much. At least not in the murder side of things.

The official OST has been out since July and the track Aerial Rebuild is so much crazier than the Enryu cover was, with a length of 5 minutes as well

For the record, this series, as it stands now, is on the lighter end of the Gundam spectrum in terms of traumatic events and catastrophes.
Don't get me wrong, shit still goes down (the prologue episode is basically just a build up to a massive gut-punch), but when compared to Double 0 or a bunch of the series from the UC timeline, it's not nearly as dark as it could be.
Still definitely worth a watch if you've got the time.

Gundam OST's have a huge range, some sound more like a rock song like 00, Hispanic iron blooded orphans, and from there every sound track has they own feel
Gundam has some of the best soundtracks in all of anime, probably just next to Jojo, especially when its done by talented composers like Sawano Hiroyuki or Takashi Ohmama

@@CatharsisYT yeah on some of the series in the gundam franchise in recent years, its safe to say its like his part time job to make some music for gundam, I wouldn't be surprised if his music will show up in the next season of Gundam witch from mercury, man can't resist making music for gundam

Witch from Mercury was made with a ton of AMBITION. It's dripping with a desire to do something amazing, on every level -- art, music, story, design, all of it. One of my favorite stories ever. Iconic. And my favorite female villain.
This isn't what all Gundam music is like but Gundam has some exceptional music in places.
I quite like the gundam unicorn soundtrack which is by the legend Hiroyuki Sawano. It has some real heavy hitters like "Unicorn" , "Full-Frontal" and "RX-0"
My favorites are from Iron Blooded Orphans because their ost's reminds me of the good old days of ace combat zero
Turn A has really good music as well.
Unicorn had the best OST of all gundam. That includes 00 and Hathaway. Fight me
Gundam has a large variety of music styles, but it's hard to not find gems in every series.
My favourites certainly have to be "Mobius", "Xi", "Earth" and "Tracer" from Hathaway's Flash and "Unicorn", "Mad-Nug", "Cage", "Vigilante" and "Narrative" from Gundam Unicorn and Narrative.
Thunderbolt, 00, Iron-Blooded Orphans, Turn A Gundam and many others have contenders for top as well.

I believe the composer for the music for Witch from Mercury is Takashi Ohmama.

I looked up who the composer was afterwards and I don't recall where but I've definitely seen his name elsewhere. Probably another show or maybe a film, I watch a bunch of stuff, but mecha was never a big interest of mine. I may have to give this project a shot now though

Themes contrast each other. First theme punches new fans and old that this is the new sound for the new flagship mobile suit Gundam Aerial. A theme of the birth for yet another gundam story. As we go along the series and how darker it develops, the aerial rebuild theme captures the awakening of something that shouldn't have happened. Our glorious bunny mecha and the innocent tanuki pilot transitioned in to something haunting and terrifying.
I hope they do the same to future gundam series. Orchestrated songs as themes that will represent the story and other aspects of it. Like how dragonball has cha-la head cha-la and one piece having We are!.... would be nice not only react to a newer generation of mobile suits but also listen to what the theme will be.

you should spent some 25 minutes to watch the 『PROLOGUE』episode of The Witch From Mercury, i think it perfectly summarize what Gundam franchise usually deliver,
it goes from 0 to -50 to +200 in a very spectacular way

I feel like I'm going crazy... I've watched the official release video for "The Witch from Mercury" along side "Asticassia" and I swear there are variations in the sound that isn't in the official music video.

If you love this, you need to check out IBO's soundtrack, along with Unicorn. Those two, along with Witch from Mercury are some of the best in Gundam for music.

1:52 Usually, yes. There's variety of music genre across each title but all beautifully done. Few of the games do justice too with their own few original OSTs or remake of the corresponding shows OSTs too.

I think there's two versions of Aerial's second theme. "Aerial Rebuild" is what's heard in the anime and "AERIAL 2.0" is like an epic version of "Aerial Rebuild", which is what you listened to. Both versions are bone chilling even without knowing the show's context imho.
There’s a whole range of music for gundam cause the franchise has been around for 40+ years
the older stuff is well older buts its very much fitting with its time frame. Zeta's music is very 80's and 0083's is very 90's
some gundam OST are only just underrate but its masterpiece Like unicorn OSTs

As someone who's grown up with the franchise for over 20 years now (gods, I feel old typing that out) - let's just say that Bandai Namco does not hold back on the budget when it comes to the soundtracks.
"The Witch From Mercury", "Surface of the Iron-Blooded Orphans", Gundam Build Fighter's "Six Times the Passion of Ordinary Flamenco", Gundam 00's "Power", Gundam Seed Destiny's "Shutsugeki! Impulse", and Gundam Wing's "The Wings of a Boy that Killed Adolescence" are just a handful of my top favorite tracks throughout the Gundam series.
Watch Gundam thunderbolt! The jazz will make a nice contrasts against the orchestra from this series

That's not the original version of Ariel Rebuild. It's been heavily tweaked compared to the version from the show.
Oh yeah no worries. I've since heard the actual version, but doubted it was worth remaking a video for. I was new and ignorant to how active fanbases were in making their own renditions to OSTs. Gotta admit they definitely did a good job though. Can't fault them for not putting in effort
Make sure you listen to the original Aerial Rebuild track as well, not the "epic version" cover you listened to here. The cover is fine, but it's poorly mixed and sounds off to me. The original is plenty epic already and has better composition in my opinion.
