dash should be just some kind of impulse on velocity in right direction with little animation, but wall climb/wall jump would be very interesting indeed
You're a goddamn savior sir, I was going through multiple videos and most of them were either outdated or too complicated for me to understand. Since I want to copy script from others as little as possible, and rather only use code I can write myself, I'm glad I found a solution that is simple and worked perfectly!
How would you make the distance the platform moves dynamic? For example, what if you have different distances that you need a platform to move - how could you add this?
Thank you for the tutorial. I did everything as you said but for some reason when I turn on the one way collision feature on the platform, my character goes right through it and doesn't collide with it at all. What can be the issue? Could you, please, give some advice? Thank you. Edit: I don't know what it was but when I made a new scene it all worked well.
The one way collision option is in the tilemap editor under where you set up per-tile collisions(where you draw boxes for collision on a given tile) click the drop down "polygon 0 ". As long as the tile's collision is set to one way, and the direction is correct, it should just work like in the video.
Great video really helpful and easy to understand! Good job sir! Just one quick q: for some reason the platform animation works perfectly in the AnimationPlayer but when I'm trying to load the game the platform doesn't appeat at all. Any clue on what did I miss?
I'm having a blast with this series.
thank you very much. i have had a hard time figuring out how to give each platform its own position, this turtorial helped with that!
Absolutely amazing guide Chris. Keep making more!
You are such a big help. Can you do a platformer guide for abilities? Like a dash or wall climb mechanic?

Very interrested in this too !
Tutorials are awesome and very clear for newcomers ❤

thanks to your videos and Godot I am now slightly less scared of code
Please tell me how to connect the down and jump buttons so that he jumps?
Just found your channel today....great stuff.More for Godot 4 and Aseprite ;) (maybe Tilemapping with Tiled/LDtk and import in Godot4)
thanks bro, helped the character jump off the platform

thanks!!!

Late but you could either use tweens with an export or make it follow a Path2D
@@praxis-cat870 DW about it - I appreciate the help. Thank you, I completely forgot that I could use tween, I'm going to try it out.

do you have tips for making this work from a top-down setting?
Is it possible to add platforms and other maps elements in runtime?
is there any way to make one way platforms with a tilemap?

How do I change direction of one way?
Anyone know how to get my Player to move with the Platform instead of falling off? Also very useful video, thanks

I have a problem... my platform spawns at the origin and not where I placed it in the world.
Also having this issue, not sure why
If we watch on, he adds a new 2d node which fixes the issue
I love you
