Look at you using words like unimaginable and vinyl! I remember when you were just beginning to make videos in English, you were concerned and apologetic for your grammar, though you didn’t have to be. And now, you’re guessing words and getting them correct! So impressive.

    Hello Luise!
Please save a picture of yourself with the jackhammer to include in your construction journal. It is so cute and you always make me laugh! In case no one has told you yet, the little 2 piece button is called a “snap”. Here are the other English words you asked viewers to provide:
The wood slats are a Subfloor.
The flooring was either Vinyl or linoleum. Vinyl is a plastic product and linoleum is a more natural product (linseed oil and cork dust). The concrete pieces could now be called “rubble”.
The first tiny piece that you found on the floor looks like part of an old sewing machine. Maybe a part from the sewing foot.
Lastly, the blue plastic thingie is called a dustpan here in the states. Your english is just terrific so please don’t be insulted with our helping you with a few words.
I am very happy for you to be on a new adventure! I wish you many happy days in your new home. Good luck! Karen Bahama from Georgia.

You are doing such a brave thing embarking on such a journey, actually journies, and are doing an amazing job of documenting this move and building of your new home! Many years ago, I built a small home, which is still my favorite, and often wish I had documented it more. It was so important in my life. It is an honor to witness your appreciation of everything going on in your life. I am sending you encouragement every day!

Just like your tutorials where you bring in unconventional items that look like they have been recovered from a disaster area, and have been made into something so unique, edgy and beautiful all at the same time, I see this happening at your apartment as well! Art imitates life. It takes a strong and creative soul to tackle life with a "jack hammer" in hand! Not everyone can do it, but you do it so well! ❤

The bottom floor boards we would call slats in the USA and the top we call Linoleum. Vinyl is correct, too, but specifically, we refer to that type of flooring as Linoleum.
Your English is wonderful, so please know I'm not trying to correct you. It's truly such a hard language.

15:30 those “buttons” are called snaps and Darcy’s Misadventures with Mixes Media channel recently showed how these could be used just to hold several pieces together (alternative to staples). I personally sew them to pieces of fabric and then glue them to parts for closures. They are seriously cool.

    @susananderson8428 วันที่ผ่านมา

I'm guessing the buttons and pins are probably from the layer between the wooden floor and the vinyl /linoleum floor. You must have a mostly flat "smooth" surface to lay vinyl so they would cover floorboards or slats with a smooth cement, cure that, then put down a waterproof paper before laying the vinyl. My guess. depending on how old the house it, the buttons and pins maybe have been the people before the people before you! So if you're third generation, the buttons may have been first generation.
I remember not having a table for sewing when my husband moved into a new apartment. We didn't have room for a table so I sewed on the floor! Spreading out the fabric, pinning and cutting the pattern then sewing and operating the "foot pedal" on the machine with my knee!! I know exactly what you are saying. I don't think I ever lasted as long in one sitting as you did in this video! That was almost 50 years ago. Now I can't even get down to the floor (unless I fall) much less get up after! Those were the days of living to the fullest and doing anything you wanted any way you wanted. Happy crafting in your new craft room. 😍😍😍

I felt for you, as your legs were going to sleep while sitting on the floor at your new craft room. You were so very clever with how you made the rusty needles be part of the new journal. Never a dull moment with you, Luise. Can’t wait for you to move in. As well, I can’t wait to have our furniture here, so I can get things out of boxes! The furniture is still being used to make our home for sale look very nice. Of course, the art supplies I want to use here are stick in storage. I too have found this sort of place thing, probably stenciled in the 70s with a too cute for my liking image of a house and words saying, Welcome friends. I managed to find in one of the art room boxes, some cheap gesso. So far, I have 5 layers of it to cover this odd shaped place. Eventually, I’ll use some crackle paste and make some rusty areas with grit paste and rusty color paints. Might use Tim’s tissue with the photographs of people and old houses. Like you, I can’t wait to be settled in this new place for us. Thanks for making this video. I enjoyed being there with you and am excited to see the place all fixed up with all your belongings and art supplies.

What is called a “snap” in an earlier comment is called a “press stud” here in Australia. I think a “snap” is an abbreviation (shortened and/or simplified word) for press stud. Strips of wood are “floor boards” All the best with such a big move and change in your life.

The journal from Dannie and the meaning behind it is worth so much. Then when you talked about respecting the needles, I was thinking what a useful way junk journal is in so many lives. From the one that creates, buys and the treasures that are put in the “ junk journal” really turn the journal into a priceless story of someone’s life. Your explanation was very very special!! Another great meaningful video!! Hope to see you again crafting ❤

You remind me so much of my daughter, my father, and myself all rolled into one person….😁! We all have been through so many renovations and things usually never go as planned but you realize that soon after experiencing it firsthand. I love being on this journey with you and your genuine thoughts on how and why you create things as you do. I was even thinking if you have a spot anywhere at the new apartment that you haven’t totally finished you could make a tiny space like for a time capsule. You spoke of someone maybe finding your art after you are gone and that would be a fun thing you could do with the new place is to leave a message and little touch of your art for the next generations to find. It reminds me of a message in a bottle drifting in the sea. I’m so excited for you to experience the next chapter of your life in this wonderful apartment…I call it a birds nest, because you’re high in the sky among the clouds on the top floor. You will have an amazing view of the neighborhood and I’m sure creativity will explode for you. Thank you and safe travels! 🥰

Maybe there was wall-to-wall carpeting (the nailed-down kind) and those things fell through or fell into the edges and corners and got scattered when the carpet was removed. Enjoy them!

I love the idea of magic that can be found anywhere, those little pieces of the world that inspire us into flights of fancy if we have the senses to find them. The way you spoke about the needles was a great example. I hope that little bits of ephemera from my life end up in similar hands.
