WOW so much for plug and play. Great job. I received my new tails, almost same issue as yours because these tails are plug and play for the asian market not for the US/CAN market. I had the same WEDGE 910 bulb adapter connection instead for a 7443 adapter for the reverse light problem. I was too lazy to drill to make the hole bigger so I used electrical tape and seems ok. Yours is definitely the cleaner way to do it.
My man, let me know when you have time to do mine lol. I just got mine I'm this weekend and knew there would have to be some research before I would even attempt installation. Thanks for the video.
I finally hooked mines up. BIG THANK YOU to you sir for making the video. I copied your blue print for the most part. Definitely couldn't have did it without watching you work.
Todd, you my friend have the patience of a saint and should nick name your self Macguyver. The Honda Fit macguyver. I applaud what you have done here and bow down to you diy prowess. DIY level: Super Saiyan God and Master. Good Job.
It seems to me that these are wired for Asian market Fits, or rather Jazz's. Maybe there are some OEM plugs from Honda that could work? It's also really weird that you had to fabricate and opening for one of the sockets. In any case, this video will be so helpful whenever my lights arrive.
so I bought a 10 to to 20t adaptor for the small plug to fit the light plug. but im not sure if its a different wattage or what but my fuse keeps going out.
After all these years, this video is still invaluable! ;) I ended up buying some Male 7440/T29 socks from Amazon, which really helps! :D Todd, How's it holding up after 4 years?
Thanks for the vid, I have the v1 version of these coming, they assure me I won’t run into these issues but I’d like to know where you got the breadboard/circuit board, or at least what it’s called so can find it in case I need to do this. Could you not solder directly onto the contacts in the plug? Or does it require multiple contact points
It's a piece of protoboard I think I got at a garage sale. Originally it probably came from Radio Shack 30 years ago. You could do something similar with strip board like this. www.amazon.com/Stripboard-Printed-Circuit-Soldering-Prototype/dp/B019Q14GRQ/
Would you say the plug that was too small was similar in size to that of a 168 LED bulb? It looks like on hondapartsnow.com that they sell 2 of those removable plugs, they seem to be named the same but have different part numbers, I'm wondering if maybe there was a plug of that smaller size that you missed

@@kyakfsh Hey Todd, another question to this build. For your sub installed on the back, are the oem cargo cover supports on each side strong enough to hold the weight of the speaker box/platform? I'm wondering if the car liner/fabric material with the attached plastic is strong enough. I'm interested in doing a similar build for the cargo cover speaker box so thats why i ask
I get the feeling from other comments that the lights work as-is for Asian models, and require mods to work with American models. If they worked for you with no mods, I'm happy for you. You lucked out.

Thanks! Sometimes you just decide that failure is not an option and you're going to do whatever is necessary to make the project work.
Thanks for this! I was looking to buy these exact taillights but after watching this I’m not so sure now! They look awesome though!
I don't know exactly why, but I enjoy watching your videos working on your car. Lol 😎
Oh man I ran into the same issue today. I have no idea how to rewire all this stuff. Looks like I'll be going to a professional. Plug & play my @$$!
Wondering if the animation will appeal when you are driving and start the light?

Those new tail lights were probably made for the Asian and Euro market Fits. I would have just upgraded the stock tail lights to GTR LED's.

Still going strong!
You’re really good bro ... thanks for the video
You're welcome. Glad to help.

Does the usa model and Japan have the same dimension??
Sorry, I have no idea.
where are these from?
Is their a conversion kit that will fix this? If so any idea where I could get one?
Not that I know of.
@@kyakfsh Any idea what that socket size is for the smaller connector?
@@jamesf1508 Sorry, I don't know.
@@kyakfsh Did you use 16' or 18' AWG for the extension wire?

@@GK5_ The deck is a tight fit, which helps the liner stay attached. The seam has widened a bit, but it's still holding going on 5 years later.
I just made it 15 mins loosing ang thigthing the bolt makes me slow
Why did you buy a new taillight housing? Why not just buy LED bulbs.
These tail lights look completely different than stock. They don't just blink. There are sequences for various functions like headlights on and off.
@@kyakfsh Ah Okay...Good Choice
How many times i look at the video and its mis leading i install may connection just plug and play i never innovate anything

It's nice to upgrade things on your car. But if it's not broken don't fix it.
