White spray paint, its love hate relationship. lol Best advice given to me while using white or light color spray paint, flat gray primer. Gives you a nice flat base to start with.
I like the combination together of the dark gray and the white, very pretty! You also have a very pleasant voice to listen to and good pacing through the video.
I loved all the information that you gave for me to be able to do the same thing you did. I also like that you showed exactly what to do step by step. I have been trying to sell Flower arrangements and I started realizing my vases are so "cheesy' this is going to help. L&I lean towards the black I think. me tremendously thank you so much!
You are in Portland,Oregon? Good results. Probably slow and tedious but you did it and I,for one,was glad to see what I could do. Thank you and see you next adventure.
May I ask why “chalk” paint? Have you found it adheres better to glass? Has a non blotchy outcome? Im about to paint a 42” circular glass for an illuminated sand table. Ive always used foam board as a diffuser but I thought this time painting the glass would be a great way. Im still researching tho. Thanks
Great video! Question about the cleaning process. What is special about the cleaning product you used? I noticed it leaves a nice shine. Will regular dish soap do the trick or do I need to invest in the cleaning product you mentioned here? Thanks!
Thanks! Good question. The cleaner I used has TSP in it - otherwise known as trisodium phosphate. TSP is a powerful cleaner and degreaser. I use it to clean furniture or anything else I'm going to be painting, because I want to be sure that there is zero contamination on the surface before I paint. You can use dish soap, but it's not as strong and may not remove everything on the surface.
Bravo! You did a good job! I have a few questions. Do you rinse your cloth between washings? Why not rinse quickly under running water or is this a conservation tactic? If not under running water, do you rinse the cloth repeatedly? And should we use a mask and eye protection when using spray paints and sealers? (Commentors: please don't make this political.)
Yes, I do squeeze out my rag periodically, I always cut that out of the video because it's boring to watch me do it a hundred times. I would recommend using PPE, especially when working indoors.
08:15 It seems to me that the coverage problem with white paint could be ameliorated by using clear or light-coloured vases. They would likely require fewer coats.
nothing was destroyed in this video but i appreciate your concern! repurposing items that don't have a home gives them life & purpose again. they belong in someone's home and deserve to be loved. if a little bit of paint will keep something out of the trash, i think that's all that matters.
Not a fan of the ugly modern vases. Broke my heart to see vintage Anchor Hocking vases destroyed. After saying, that, the technique is great. I'll just use it on plain glass, not already beautiful colored glass.
I don’t understand why anyone would ruin perfectly good colored glass vases with paint if anything use clear glass vases to bring new life to them. although this is eco-friendly is the cleaner you were using also Equi friendly? It’s going down the drain and if not processed correctly, you could be contaminated the water system nearby
Do you like the black vases or the white vases better? What color would you have used for your home???
I love greens and oranges . In that color range

The vases look so good! Also loving the ASMR vibe of this video! I might try to make my own🤔
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it :) If you do give it a try, let me know how it goes!
I like these so much I'm back for my 3rd time lol.
Haha appreciate it!
This turned out great!
Thanks!
Making a simple "lazy Susan" turntable would make spraying a whole load easier, just slowly rotate as you spray. Vases look great.
Definitely would.
Thanks!
Wow well done, love them
thank you so much!
Beautiful 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Thank you! 😊
Exceptional!
thank you!
Beautiful❣️

Beautiful
Thank you!
Great job!
Before the Matt seal can you paint on the white coat over with acrylic design’s?
Personally, I wouldn't mix different paint formula's, since I was using a chalk style paint. But you could certainly give it a try.
Beautiful!
Thank you!
Cute... ☺️
Thank you! 😊
I love the black and white as they can be mixed on a table or widow did u say they were sealed with something can they be washed😊😊😊😊😊

Yes, I am!
Thank you so much! It absolutely was tedious, but not hard to do--Anyone can do it! Thanks for watching!
I like the color black.
I would like to learn painting on the glass if you could pls show that. I loved the look of these vases. Thank you

it does adhere well to most surfaces. i like chalk paint for the soft matte finish!
Nice !!
Thank you!
Thanks for the ideas
No problem!
Wow 🤓🤓🤓 ✅✌🏼
Hey there, I love these vases set out the way you had them, I was wondering how many cans of paint you used ?.....Take care...stay safe...
Thank you so much! For the black set of vases, I used half a can. And the white set I used a full can.
Great video! Question about the cleaning process. What is special about the cleaning product you used? I noticed it leaves a nice shine. Will regular dish soap do the trick or do I need to invest in the cleaning product you mentioned here? Thanks!

Love it! But I’m distracted by your other hand being exposed to the TSP cleaner. 😅

That would definitely help!
Some ruby glass dates back to the Victorian era as does amethyst glass .
thanks for the info!
Could th vases be painted with 1 coat of white paint then sprayed
You're adorable!
Thanks Kristie 🙈
What did you use to clean?
Thanks for sharing if I had watched this video before I wouldn't have donated all my vases just cus they didn't match the colors of my new place
thank you for watching! yes, there are always ways to upcycle things like this to match :)
You’ve created your own new home decor line: HOLLYPOLOGIE!
Haha love that!
The red vases quite possibly could have been antiques some may have been from the Victorian era
Do you ship to Los Angeles? 😉
I wish!
❤❤

Just make sure you aren't destroying an antique or vintage items in the process like your vintage anchor Hocking ruby glass there!

What are your go to thrift stores? :)
I love Goodwill and Value Village. I do need to explore some more though.
I prefer to refinish the bottoms of vessels as it creates a more authentic look. Leaving it untouched is unnatural.
Yes next time skip the clean part please
I appreciate your feedback, but I like showing the cleaning. You are always welcome to fast forward to the next step.
So much time cleaning 😖
Cleaning takes a lot of time and she was emphasizing the importance because the paint won't stick over time if not properly cleaned.
You are more than welcome to skip the parts you don't enjoy. No need to complain :)
Cleaning is the most important part before starting any projects...
@@ChicAntiquebyHolly you shouldn’t ask that
I love these! Half the furniture/decor in my house is painted in Rustoleum's Charcoal haha Such a good, classic color.
Thank you! Ah, I love that! It's such a good color.
Good job
