Every christian I've ever met in my life (excluding clergymen) break at least one commandment pretty much daily. That's the part of religion I can't stand.
Most religious people treat it like supporting a football team. Doesn't influence their lives at all other than asking their God of choice to fix their problems.

I am living proof that there are guardian angels and that there is Divine intervention. Vietnam showed me that - 4 times I came close to death and cannot explain how I survived without it.
My version is very different. I have likewise survived a lot, not in war I don't agree in killing for profit, seperate conversation and not something I blame soldiers for.
Mine all resulted from risks I took that usually paid off, but occasionally didn't landing me close to death a number of times. This was to the extent a doctor diagnosed me with 'not knowing how to die.' That was genuinely on my medical notes as something making their jobs more and less difficult.
Two of these instances left me with another charming diagnosis, that I wouldn't walk again. Both times I saw people in the same situation praying for god's help, as an atheist I didn't and wouldn't insult their faith by converting for convenience.
First intance of this I was back on my feet, walking and back to my preferred sport withing a few months. When I went back to the initial hospital to have some check ups the religious were often still waiting on god so in chairs, while I had accepted this was for me to do so was on my feet.
Second instance I had to go in to be assessed because back in my home town I had declined invalidity benefit saying I would recover. They sent me for assessment because they weren't willing to accept I would return to working capacity.
I arrived at the hospital and went in to the consultant's room to see a very confused consutant. He thought he had the wrong person until I confirmed my name. He tole me out the person he had on record couldn't walk let alone walk with a push bike. I pointed out this was my walking frame. When he asked if I had walked all the way there with my bike I said that I had cycled most of the way.
The issue was impact to hips and knees, so I could ride but not walk. When I was asked how I coped with stopping I told him I leaned right, put my left foot down then brought the weight back. When he asked what I would do in an emergency I stated I would fall off.
By the time he got to the standard questions he'd formed an opinion on me and it was an accurate one. So when he asked how far I could walk and was told 1 and a half steps he simply put down his pen and looked at me for an explanaiton. I told him I could take one step, the impact would make the leg I had landed on unable to hold my weight alone so half way through the next step I fell over.
Report went back saying basically that the medical assessment of me was correct but if I said I would walk again he was confident I probably would.
