just something to mention - if you use the BetaCraft launcher (which was designed to load all the old versions of MC) for this series, it'll use all the correct Beta sound effects such as the creeper explosions, bows, the legendary old door sound, as well as the music that was in the game at the time :)

My suggestion maybe add slab on top of the water so you don't need to jump all the time.
I like this series, it's inspiring me to begin playing beta 1.5 on survival like you.
