The recent clashes in Parachinar, Pakistan, have been a result of a land dispute between rival tribes. Here are the key points:
Location and Background:
Parachinar is in the Kurram district, which lies along Pakistan's northwestern border with Afghanistan.
The area has a history of sectarian conflict between Shia and Sunni communities.
Militant groups like ISIL (ISIS) and the Pakistan Taliban (TTP) have targeted the Shia community in the past.
Current Conflict:
The clashes began on July 7, 2024, when Sunni and Shia tribes clashed over the disputed land.
At least 46 people were killed, and nearly 200 were injured during the weeklong violence.
Despite district administration claims of a ceasefire, violence resumed, leading to shortages of food, medicine, and fuel.
Resolution Efforts:
A grand jirga (tribal elders' gathering) involving authorities and security officials took place in Parachinar.
They agreed upon a temporary ceasefire until October 5, aiming to resolve the conflict.
The government is confident about finding a lasting solution to this ongoing land dispute

I'm sharing this post with a heavy heart. We all know who started the recent war in Kurram and who besieged an innocent and lonely village of Boshera, but I'm repeatedly seeing trends on different social media websites where the educated Shia youth (regrettably, I have to name them) are misquoting facts and trying to hide their atrocities and gain sympathy. I would have shared my sympathies with them if they were being treated wrongly or if they were right in their heinous digital campaign. I've received dozens of messages from my friends from different corners of the country, and they've shared a fake video with me where the Taliban are slaughtering a man. The Shia are spreading that video with the claim that he's a Shia and was being slaughtered in the current war. First of all, this video is from Waziristan, and secondly, the man being slaughtered in the video is not Shia. Lastly, this is an old video from the Taliban era. I fear these cheap and low tactics would further deteriorate the already worst situation in Kurram.
Furthermore, they are also seeking people's sympathy by quoting the number of their deads. I have few simple questions for my fellow Shia friends: Did they die while Sunni attacked Shias' villages? Were they murdered just because of their religious identity? Were they murdered at home or in mosques? The answer to all these questions is unfortunately, NOOO. They were murdered just because they attacked an innocent and lonely village of Boshera. They were murdered because they had exaggerated that they would bring the trousers of the women of Boshera. They were murdered because they had attacked Boshera with the claim that they would gang-rape the women of Boshera. They were murdered because they had claimed to set Boshera ablaze. They were murdered because Islam gives us the right to defend our houses and women. But still, I feel sorry for their murder. I wish they had not died. I wish they had not besieged Boshera. But for their bad luck, they themselves chose this path for their murder. So, I request all my fellow Shia friends to stop negative campaigning. Don't spread further hatred with these low and cheap tactics, and further avoid your men from becoming part of such cheap adventures, as the people of Boshera have a full right to defend themselves against any misadventure.
