They were definitely mashing up different genres, but what’s adding on to the diversity of the sound is that they are also singing in different Filipino languages…for this song, I believe they were singing in 7 languages. Alamat is actually rare for a pop boy band because they specifically focus in mixing traditional and modern styles into their roster. The blending of languages is insane too. And just when you think they've done everything, they also blend the traditional dances with modern pop and lock styles/hiphop style. For proof of this react to MAHARANI with subtitles on. Thank you for reacting to Alamat! They are fantastic and sooo underrated. I recommend watching their Ily Ily music video, which has English subtitles. The lyrics are really powerful and they, along with the video, help put the "multiple songs in one" in context. I don't want to spoil it, but basically it's about the children whose parents are OFW (Overseas Filipino Workers) and what they go through being parted from them, often for years at a time.
Please react to their Kasmala MV and Wish Bus performance (they had 8 members then, so don't be thrown off). Both are just as powerful as this one. They are truly unique and deserve a much wider audience!
