You’re making good progress in getting your plot ready for spring. The way I split my rhubarb was to dig my spade in vertical to the full depth of the spade where you want to split it. Then dig up the half you want to move. Keeping half undisturbed. It would be better to do it sooner rather than later. Have a great week Roisin 👋
Thanks so much Derek, finally feels like the vision is coming to life :) Thank you for the splitting advice, I'll be doing it in a few days! Take care Derek!
That weeding tool looks brilliant. Less leaning over or crouching down and it looks like it gets the tap root, great stuff. I don't think any of my Leeks so far have grown to the "normal" size... but I quite enjoy the small ones just the same. I imagine a garden center might have some established tulips etc you could grab?
I agree with Derek a quit full cut with a spade, it’s how I split my sedums too. I need to buy some lavender plants I e tried from seed but alas not much success. Great update Roisin have a super weekend, Ali ☔️☔️🇨🇦
Thanks Ali! I'm giving it a go this week so fingers crossed! I have the same problem, I wonder why it's such a tricky one! You too Ali, I hope all is well with you :)
Roisin Lavebnder is the easiest plant in the world to take cuttings from .Save your money and just take some cuttings 🙂Those leeks would be fine ..I hope your planning on covering that brassica ,/salad bed with hoops and fleece Roisin 🙂Leave your tomatoes till mid March .You should still be fine to pop some tulips in .
Oh really?! I'll try doing some cuttings :) The leeks were really good, we had them with dinner last night! Oh yes, the brassica's will be covered which is what the grey tubes are for, you have just reminded me I need a finer mesh this year though!
