Herman has also become a major figure in the online guitar community, with his Twitch streams amassing millions of views for their fun and unique segments and guests. You should consider talking to this brazilian guy called Pedro Martins. He's a beast. Not only technically but also musically. Seeing as a lot of people in this channel don't seem to know what the difference is between those two, Pedro Martins would be a good learning. Everyone is tired of Steve Vai, I have no interest in more interviews about the guy. Sorry. Just my 2 cents.
I remember running into Herman Li back in 2014 at a venue called The Garage in London during an Aristocrats concert. This long-haired guy standing right in front of us suddenly turned around, revealing himself to be Herman Li. He saw the immediate recognition in our eyes and put his finger on his lips, as if to say "Don't tell anyone", and then walked off to use the men's room or something. He was kind enough to have a little chat with us after the show and take a couple of pictures.
I am part of the 0.01% of women who cry when I saw Dragonforce in concert 😂 I just love everything about the band. The shredding, the lyrics, the music videos, the fantasy, everything about Dragonforce I love and when I saw you guys live I cried 🤷🏽♀️
I would really want to see KIKO LOUREIRO on your show, MARTY FRIEDMAN, KIRK HAMMETT (that could be difficult to get him aha), STEVE HACKETT, and so many more! Really loved this first season, it really helped me during work to have something to listen to and to hear about all those incredible guitar players (and I'm glad the last one was with Herman Li as Dragonforce is one of my favourite bands). Good luck for the next season 🤘🏻
How can anyone dislike herman. He absolutely shreds and shreds with FEELING as well. He is so humble and always says how every other player is great before he ever compliments himself. He loves his fans. Hes super generous like with the jason becker auction. He didnt have to put in all that work. He didnt have to bring jason beckers problems to the forefront of the guitar community. He could of just made a video and say "man i feel so bad for jason and if anyone can donate please do it" then never speak about it again like many other famous players would but he made it his mission to raise money and spread the word while not profiting in any way. And he did it during the middle of the pandemic while he had every right to focus on his health and safety. Herman would never say anything negative to someone that didnt deserve it. He doesnt have the "rockstar" mentality or persona. All he wants to do is make great music and play it for people and make them happy. Again im going to ask how anyone can not like herman...if you do then maybe you have your own issues that you project onto people that you wish you could be. Envy and jealousy can ruin a persons mental state and personality and no one likes an envious jealous hater that all they do is hate on undeserving people.
Herman is far from my favorite guitar player guests so far on season 1 of Guitar Villains. That being said, his down to earth attitude, his overall demeanor, his honesty and the way he approaches the industry and the job, has made this one of my most enjoyable episodes so far. Thanks Tyler and Herman!
Herman Li has been basically my favorite since I was a little kid mostly because he was the first metal guitarist I was ever exposed to being a sheltered Christian child
Herman is one incredible player, that’s for damn sure, but I’m also always impressed by him as a human being as well: He has ALWAYS come across as such a lovely, down to earth dude who has time for absolutely everybody he meets.
Herman is such a lovely guy. My son and I met him last year at a Dragonforce gig, he was wandering around upstairs at the venue, whilst the support was playing. Dragonforce are a super fun band to go and see, and superb musicians.
This podcast was one of the best things to happen in 2020. Really interesting stuff. For next season: Plini, Tosin Abasi, Aaron Marshall, Yvette Young, Mark Holcomb, Luke Hoskin, Gus G, Nick Johnston, Guthrie Govan, Mike Dawes, Mark Tremonti and Myles Kennedy are some of my picks.
This was a great series! It would be great to see: VAI, Ian Thornley, Alex Lifeson, Nick Johnston, Andy Wood, Mike Stern, Dani Rabin, Mark Holcomb, Jake Bowen, Scott Henderson, and of course, Guthrie
I love that he is a showman. His comments at the end are so on point. I know i took soooooo much crap about over the top antics at shows. The haters hated, but the fans loved that interaction because they paid for a show. Let's give them a show. So so fun, i miss those days.
I've said it before, I'll say it again: Dusty Waring from Between the Buried and Me. He shreds, has been in the game for years, is a fellow PRS'er, and lives in Nashville.
Hey Tyler! Love your videos. Truly eyes opening content. Ruben Wan would be an excellent guest for this show. He's not metal but such a amazing player and it would bring another point of view about guitar to your channel. Thank you for everything you do for the guitar community and keep up the good work!
That’s beautiful that he explained his process and talked about the wonder of improvising! And you brought up how you have to reverse engineer your own creativity. My friend who I think got better than me at guitar swears I’m still better because he said he loves how I take risks and I’m not afraid to go for something wild, dramatic, or epic… and that literally just comes from playing till you just love what you came up with
Please get Richie Kotzen for the next season. One of the most proficient multi-instrumentalists, vocalists, author of last 50 years. My favorite musician of all time.
In the past 3 months Herman has gone from “who is that guy?” to “oh cool that’s what the dragonforce guy looks like” to man this guys is such a great and cool dude.” Keep it up Herman, you are awesome in and out of music! Both of you make great and entertaining content
Yet again more amazing content from Music is Win! Thank you so much for mentioning/covering Herman playing under water. I recall seeing that video and thinking it was one of the coolest and most silly fun things for guitar I've seen in a while haha. thanks for continuing the dialogue about fast playing and feel. I play guitar and I love playing in whatever speed the song calls for but as you've pointed out some people cannot get past certain sounds and are a little more closed-minded to these things so it is inspiring and refreshing to hear your take on the subject! \m/
Richie sambora is my idol to hear a guitar magician like Herman mention him wow 🤩 lots of players look down on Richie since he sticks around same pentatonic boxes but no one can deny the guy could play
Also, Adam Jones is just a part of a band. He has nothing of legendary or villain as a guitarist. Maybe Tool have the villain vibe, but only as a band and only because of Maynard. Also, Yvette is all show off. And she's ugly lol. Reba what? Aaron who? Those are nobody's, sorry.
You did an awesome job with this format, like it a lot, entertaining and informative. Great job, can’t see what next idea you have!!!! Great job again!!!
Jen Majura, Pete Thorn, Ola Englund, Jeff Waters (if possible), Via, Paul Gilbert, Gus G, Tim Pierce, I'm sure I can think of others... These were awesome. Great series! Keep 'em comin'!

These 8 guys would be some great villains for season 2, which I'm sure some people have mentioned some of these guys. Ichika Nito, Marty Friedman, Tosin Abasi, Jeff Loomis, Angel Vivaldi, Andy James, Daniele Gottardo, and Christian Muenzer.
Satchel from Steel Panther could be really interesting. Not only is he a great and extremely underrated guitar player, he is also an extremely funny comedian as well.
Oh man the best part of concerts is the crazy act and the show itself. The music is great 100 percent the reason I go to shows but it makes it so much better when there’s action. Even rush had some great shows and entertaining moments in their later years

Fuck that's awesome. Captain America moment.
Herman is simply just a fun guy to hang around to, especially a technically skilled guitarist at that. What a great way to end this season!
Herman Li is such a humble human being, yet so underrated.

I cried during their cover of "My Heart Will Go On." After my dad passed, so beautiful
For next season: IDK maybe perhaps TheDooo or Rabea Massaad
Both of those are fantastic choices!!! 🤘
Guthrie govan
ritchie blackmore lmao
I support this tremendously
Nobody even asking why villains anymore
Tyler in mysterious voice: Why villains you ask?
I love this show, btw! Lol
Will Swan, Tosin Abasi, Javier Reyes, Steve Vai, Guthrie Govan and Michael Angelo Batio would all make for some sick guests 😆
I'm house crew at a couple of venues in Birmingham England , met Herman a couple of times , he is a gentleman. 👌
I think Slash would be awesome if he would agree to be on. I've read his book and he has a hell of a lot of stories to talk about.
I would really want to see KIKO LOUREIRO on your show, MARTY FRIEDMAN, KIRK HAMMETT (that could be difficult to get him aha), STEVE HACKETT, and so many more! Kiko and Marty have both been on for the Jason Becker fundraiser - you should check that out. Awesome show.
Next season you should do Satchel from steel panther. Almost a perfect choice for a villain.
Next season picks: Ritchie Blackmore, Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, Yngwie Malmsteen, and if he's still kickin' it, Keith Richards!
Herman is so humble that this episode it's so lovely how themes and guitar chatting came up flawlessly
I'd loooooveeee to see Guthrie on this podcast...
