Well said Toni... I have listened to this song over and over. I know your pain is unbearable. I spent my first Father's Day without my baby daughter Cassidy. She was 21 and had her whole life ahead of her. Her life was taken by a Takata airbag about the same time that your Dad passed. Music, including your Dad's was such a HUGE part of our lives. We turned each other on to so much music. There was no genre that was off limits. When she was 2, I turned her onto Louis Armstrong, Sound Garden, Metallica, Ramones, etc... She turned me onto Barney's Yum Yum Pumpernickle, Pumpernickle Bread. Eventually she turned me onto so much cool music. Her love for music never stopped. What you and your Dad had was beautiful and special. It can't be taken away from you. He was a great man. I know a Father's love. Nothing compares to you or Cassidy... I'm told we will eventually be OK. Although we are at opposite ends, the loss and longing for 1 more hug and 1 more kiss is the same. I wish you were here so I could give you a hug. Please take care of yourself. Hug and kiss your family every chance you get.

Having lost my father at a young 56 a few years ago; and him being my best friend, support rock, and strongest supporter. I cryed listening to this new cut of a great tune. I agree with your statement, the music just by it self, made by prince, is amazing. The thing here is: given the circumstances that Chris left us about one year ago just gives the song another meaning and different feeling, especially if you love Cornell's music! And yes, of course Prince has the credits for having wrote this beautifull piece of art and everyone knows it, but I think when music is composed in its true means it becomes something that belongs to everyone, and as long as people respect it I dont see anything wrong with doing a cover of it. :)

I lost my Mom who was my best friend last year to cancer and Mother's Day isn't the same for me anymore and never will be. He's one of the only people in my life that I didn't know personally, but cried on my way to work that morning when I heard that he died. I've been playing guitar for a few years and have learned many Soundgarden songs and listen to the albums constantly. Them and AIC are the reasons why I picked up a guitar in the first place. I saw your Dad in Concert in 1991 at the Milk Bar in Jacksonville Florida as lead vocals to Soundgarden, he had the most amazing voice as a singer and that turned me to start playing music myself. I actually started singing to many of his classic songs under Audioslave. It was a dagger to the heart to hear of his passing. But from what I can see he has left some amazing talent in his Children and natural talent in your voice. Please keep playing, don't ever give up and trying to be better. Music is definately a healer. Your dad has has had a major impact Life Long impact on the Music community and will never, ever be forgotten. My children had to spend their first Fathers Day, without their dad, this year and it was painful. My heart goes out to all of Chris’ kids. I could tell how much he loved them. God’s blessings to all the children who have lost their fathers.

I agree with your statement, the music just by it self, made by prince, is amazing. The thing here is: given the circumstances that Chris left us about one year ago just gives the song another meaning and different feeling, especially if you love Cornell's music! And yes, of course Prince has the credits for having wrote this beautifull piece of art and everyone knows it, but I think when music is composed in its true means it becomes something that belongs to everyone, and as long as people respect it I dont see anything wrong with doing a cover of it. :)
I agree- music is one of the few things that can make me emotional. Certain songs can bring me to tears... It reminds me I'm human after all. Sometimes I start to feel a bit numb.

John Tootoosis i actually lost my oldest brother to cancer back in October of 2000, i was in the room when he took his last breath, that was tough too. I was 11 then, he was 17.

I don't know if you'll see this Toni, but I just want to say that I'm so sorry you lost your Dad. I know that Father's Day will never be the same for you. I lost my Mom who was my best friend last year to cancer and Mother's Day isn't the same for me anymore and never will be. Stay strong and always remember the amazing music that your Dad made and the lives he touched with it, including mine. He's one of the only people in my life that I didn't know personally, but cried on my way to work that morning when I heard that he died. I've been playing guitar for a few years and have learned many Soundgarden songs and listen to the albums constantly. Them and AIC are the reasons why I picked up a guitar in the first place. I saw your Dad in Concert in 1991 at the Milk Bar in Jacksonville Florida as lead vocals to Soundgarden, he had the most amazing voice as a singer and that turned me to start playing music myself. I actually started singing to many of his classic songs under Audioslave. It was a dagger to the heart to hear of his passing. But from what I can see he has left some amazing talent in his Children and natural talent in your voice. Please keep playing, don't ever give up and trying to be better. Music is definately a healer. Your dad has has had a major impact Life Long impact on the Music community and will never, ever be forgotten. I lost my dad to cancer, so I can relate to the pain you may be feeling, music to me and doing hobbies I love get me through. God bless...
