Jerry sings the 1st verse, Chris sings 2nd verse, and first chorus, Layne sings the 3rd Verse and 2nd Chorus, Mark Arm sings the bridge and 3rd chorus. For the outro, and extended fade out, all 4 guys sing various parts creating what is called overlapping polyphony. Overlapping polyphony is when two different vocal parts, instead of following each other in turns, overlap each other. A new vocal line comes in while the previous part has not yet finished. Rinse and repeat.

My family used to do that, not my parents, since dad lost his mother at age ten, he understood not to pressure a child too much and mom did as well bc she seen what her elder sister endured with grandmother pushing her to be this and that, but failed to instill some confidence and in my mom. She was a good person , don’t get me wrong but even wonderful ppl are flawed. That’s why we all need God’s Grace, love, mercy, patience and forgiveness, moreover it running over and through us. It keeps the emotions evil uses to destroy and hinder us from our calling and greatness. Moreover, good mental/emotional/physical health bc believe, one affects the other. Oh my fellow peeps the lessons I had to learn and lose by the age of turning 17. I can relate to this beautiful young lady and in high school I so wanted to help those struggling bc I’ll tell you what I’ve learned. No one truly gets what you’ve been through until they’ve experienced it. That’s how you reach others. Not just arm chair or even book repetitions, and no offense to anyone doing good work to help and giving it their all. It’s just that everyone is different, every brain is different and I think that’s where we mess up with addiction and trying to motivate a child by comparing a child already with low self esteem or a product of verbal abuse and slights, it tears them down even more. They develop an apathetic attitude if not very careful and that’s hard to reach and break through. Myself, I was the fighter in every aspect. Ppl that talked and said foolish things and my aunt would tell me bc she k ew it’d light a fire under my arse and I’d prove them wrong. Even though that was my goal for MYSELF anyways. You wanna know a lil secret? Those grown goons that set bad examples for their own children, and talking stuff in front of them they shouldn’t have even been saying anyway let alone kids and teens. None of their kids they raised together graduated. I always valued my reputation, treatment of others but sometimes bc of my undiagnosed ADD, PTSD, and what got labeled as “IBS” but was much more serious, I was my toughest obstacle to overcome bc once I got something in my head, no matter how much my parents and family told me I was beautiful, dressed nicely and had a great fashion sense, still had bouts of low self esteem. Wanted so badly to join in on things but was petrified I’d make a laughing stock of myself when at the other school I’d came up in, I’d ham it up and didn’t care to laugh or make ppl laugh and participate. It’s like my issue came to a head my eighth grade year and worsened my HS years. Imagine having a digestive issue living and commenting 45/50 mins away one way to school, just to get your basic education. You’d be amazed when you’ve got the faith and will and really want something and pray, being God’s from the get-go (dedicated) yes, Chris had his as well, but I hope they lean more towards that wisdom than actions of other’s that don’t or get confused by the actions of hypocritical ppl in any fashion/situation bc they don’t represent God or goodness. But, I’m living proof of the F.O.G. and guiding intuition to go the best paths and what to avoid. Yes, I felt different and had a heart too big for my own good that got hurt bc I noticed and could comprehend more than possible. That’s rough especially around adults that kids understand things better and just trying to explain a situation with another kid to keep them from getting in trouble or myself. My parents allowed me to express that, but teacher’s said I like to talk too much and my “K” teacher said I talked back, but it wasn’t. Just trying to convey properly and not be or have misunderstandings. Yeah, I was a talker and about went mute later, lol.(My texting though, lengthy but probably from holding a lot in IRL, etc.)
I lost my grandma to cancer in January last year, I'm trying to learn to play guitar, but my left arm is mostly paralyzed, and it's been that way since I was six, now I'm twenty - nine. That makes it very challenging to form chords, but I also sing. but she was one of the closest people to me, as both a child and an adult. I met my girlfriend and told her about her shortly before her passing, we've been together for two years tomorrow, as of me typing this single handedly. I've become pretty good at doing plenty of thing with one hand since my left hand is pretty much only good for gripping things and I can't really move any of the fingers on it individually. I know that the song has a line that says: "Imitations are pale, but when I sing this, being a kid through most of the '90's, I can't help but sing this kind of like how I think Layne Staley would have, as a lifelong Alice in Chains fan, I don't really try to imitate him, my voice naturally channels that sound, like as soon as the song starts, and the vocals kick in. The divorce papers are online for you to look, so you don't have to keep repeating "I heard this, I heard that" disrespecting for no actual reason a working woman who had to raise her daughter as a single mom and, as you can see in this video, did an AMAZING job. Lily does honor her dad in her Instagram series focused on mental health, which I suggest you check out because she mentions how important Susan was for that matter. There's a ton of respectful ways you can honor a person without having to mention them constantly.
To anyone who doesn't know, Chris DeGarmo (the man playing guitar) was the lead guitarist of the CLASSIC era of Queensryche and is responsible for writing and playing on all the hits and killer songs that revolutionized a genre of music. Chris from 1982 to 1995 was one of the best guitarists around. He's been out of the limelight since quitting Queensryche in 1997. The band was never the same since.
I saw Chris DeGarmo’s name and clicked like lightning! Being a huge fan of both Queensryche and Alice In Chains over the decades, it’s a pleasure to see the two worlds meet but better still that both Jerry and Chris are known as Uncles to Lilly. DeGarmo’s legacy remains as perfect as it did at Queensryche’s peak, unlike the other members and his departure from music over the last 20 years has just added a fascinating mystery, myth and legend around him. I’m so glad Jerry and Chris have been buddies for ages. Both men are utter gentleman and such fine contributors to the heavier yet melodic arts.
My mom was dying right before my eyes when AIC rose up and released Black Gives Way To Blue. I was immersed in this album while spending the final months with my mom. This song is about that for me. I'm so grateful to Jerry Cantrell. I think All Secrets Known is the last thing I played for her on my guitar...

Susan raised Lily btw. Chris abandoned her when he had an affair and cheated on Susan with the second wife. Not sure what he was thinking at the time after just coming out of rehab but he is not here to explain. It speaks volumes. Just happy he finally started having Lily back in his life towards the end of his own. What a mess created once he got a hasty divorce and married #2.

Imagine having Jerry Cantrell and Sean as your uncle? I know she lost her father but she is also blessed to have so many amazing, cool and funny uncles to look after her. What an incredible voice and talent.
She probably looks at will as an uncle too because he joined the band when she was just like 5 yrs old so he’s been around most of her life, you can see it in the picture with her on Will’s back, mike too has been around her entire life. I’m sure Jerry and Sean are the closest tho because they’re very close with Susan and have been since well before Lily was born but I’m sure she considers the whole Band like uncles to her. They’re were probably very proud of her for this performance especially after losing you dad and you know Susan is extremely proud of her daughter. I really hope we get to hear more from, it’s pretty clear she is very talented.

I loved Queensryche in the 80's and feel they lost the heart of their music without his songwriting after Empire. I knew he was a private pilot, will look him up again if he's back in music!

I could see the ghosts of Layne, Mike, Chris, Kurt, Andrew as well as many members of my own family who've passed on over the years appearing and watching, smiling faintly as the song concludes... then fading back into the void to once again become mere memories. I've become pretty good at doing plenty of thing with one hand since my left hand is pretty much only good for gripping things and I can't really move any of the fingers on it individually. I know that the song has a line that says: "Imitations are pale, but when I sing this, being a kid through most of the '90's, I can't help but sing this kind of like how I think Layne Staley would have, as a lifelong Alice in Chains fan, I don't really try to imitate him, my voice naturally channels that sound, like as soon as the song starts, and the vocals kick in. To anyone who doesn't know, Chris DeGarmo (the man playing guitar) was the lead guitarist of the CLASSIC era of Queensryche and is responsible for writing and playing on all the hits and killer songs that revolutionized a genre of music. Chris from 1982 to 1995 was one of the best guitarists around. He's been out of the limelight since quitting Queensryche in 1997. The band was never the same since.
I saw Chris DeGarmo’s name and clicked like lightning! Being a huge fan of both Queensryche and Alice In Chains over the decades, it’s a pleasure to see the two worlds meet but better still that both Jerry and Chris are known as Uncles to Lilly. DeGarmo’s legacy remains as perfect as it did at Queensryche’s peak, unlike the other members and his departure from music over the last 20 years has just added a fascinating mystery, myth and legend around him. I’m so glad Jerry and Chris have been buddies for ages. Both men are utter gentleman and such fine contributors to the heavier yet melodic arts.

My mom was dying right before my eyes when AIC rose up and released Black Gives Way To Blue. I was immersed in this album while spending the final months with my mom. This song is about that for me. I'm so grateful to Jerry Cantrell. I think All Secrets Known is the last thing I played for her on my guitar...

Susan raised Lily btw. Chris abandoned her when he had an affair and cheated on Susan with the second wife. Not sure what he was thinking at the time after just coming out of rehab but he is not here to explain. It speaks volumes. Just happy he finally started having Lily back in his life towards the end of his own. What a mess created once he got a hasty divorce and married #2.
She's probably closer to the Vedders than her dad. But I think her mom raised her very well indeed ❤

Imagine having Jerry Cantrell and Sean as your uncle? I know she lost her father but she is also blessed to have so many amazing, cool and funny uncles to look after her. What an incredible voice and talent.
She probably looks at will as an uncle too because he joined the band when she was just like 5 yrs old so he’s been around most of her life, you can see it in the picture with her on Will’s back, mike too has been around her entire life. I’m sure Jerry and Sean are the closest tho because they’re very close with Susan and have been since well before Lily was born but I’m sure she considers the whole Band like uncles to her. They’re were probably very proud of her for this performance especially after losing you dad and you know Susan is extremely proud of her daughter. I really hope we get to hear more from, it’s pretty clear she is very talented.
