I appreciate you making a point about the woodruff key on the lower balance shaft pulley, I might have not caught that and used the same Logic you did. My Hayes Manual recommend putting paint marks on the pulleys before removing them, it makes more sense now to avoid any confusion. You did a ton of work on this car, should be much better now and the seal changes are not an easy job. I appreciate the video for help it provided. I'm thinking maybe you need some Martini Stripes on the car like mine since you have the Alpine White version of the 924S. Red wheels and Martini stripes bring a lot of compliments to my car. Great job.
How do you never get dirty. I've watched all your videos, here & BHB and you're always spotless! I only have to walk into the garage and I'm instantly covered in grease/oil/filth 😂
Nice video! Just replaced the belts, tensioners, and idlers on my 924S a couple weeks ago. Also the water pump, which may have been the original! The earlier water pumps didn't have a provision for the belt guide rail, my car was never updated. The bearings on the tensioners, idlers, and the water pump were either gummed up or rough. The new parts eliminated a lot of weird vibrations and noises. Surprise! I also have the same belt noise! Readjusted the balance shaft belt on the loose side, still noisy. Just going to get some miles on it and re check the adjustment. From what I've seen and read, adjust your belts when they are "cold" (basically room temperature). I made the same mistake with the upper radiator hose clamp, the headlights went up, but the clamp positioning wouldn't I also allow them to come down. Ended up removing the air cleaner box bracket and rotated the clamp to get it out of the path of the headlight linkage.
Just got to the balance shaft part of the video. I'd done belts maybe a dozen times, got complacent and managed to time one BS out of phase. The shifter vibrated with such a frequency that it felt like a low voltage electrocution when I touched it. Live and learn.
@tangentsbhb lol, yeah it'll get you. I thought I could do belts with my eyes closed by now, but apparently not. Also, the BS belt needs to be so loose it's alarming.
I saw a good one on the belts: tight like you would think is correct - too tight Bit more slack that you are comfortable with - too tight "This is going to skip a tooth" - just right Actually skips tooth - too loose lol
If the temp gauge always reads hot check the actual temp with an IR heat gun. The spade connector on the temp sensor often gets corroded and causes weird readings.
Definitely. I did inspect that sensor and wiring connections. The temp was always consistent so I never suspected the sensor to be an issue. Just cools better with the new pump, tstat, and fluid
Heck yeah lol. The old tractor. In case you didn't know I have a large motorcycle channel. Here is the playlist for the KLR KLR650 ADV Build: th-cam.com/play/PLerq_C5Llt2w-9X25YBmFv3QL3LeBy8G5.html
Its still a bit louder than I would prefer. I do plan to engine swap it but really want to enjoy the car for a while until I can make that happen. Need it to be reliable first

I just have 15 of the same shirt as I mess them up 🤣

Glad I'm not alone on that dang rad hose clamp lol. Of all things to bite me!

Apparently this same thing has caught a couple Porsche techs as well so that helps me sleep lol

that looked like a hell of a job to do. glad to have some Tangents back!
Yeah been too long since I've put up a video. I've been working on the truck, Caddy, pantera, and this but no time to edit
@@tangentsbhb can't wait to see more! especially the caddy!
My kinda dude, i see that klr650

Belt whine sounded correct to me. I thought you were gonna swap out that engine? There is currently a 968 swapped 924s on BAT

Have done 2 of these, I will stress, get a good quality 6mm hex that can reach in the cam tower.
Definitely
