Who else is just seeing this in 2024?
Nope 2025 me.
Who DIDN’T MAKE IT???😉
I seen it a while ago, but it's been so long that it's like the first time.
Me
Roight
Can't think of another stand-up comic who deserved this night more. Glad to see he got his flowers while he was here to smell them. Rest peacefully, King Richard.
The greatest of all times
I'm just seeing this 2024😊❤
Well said!!!
They knew this was a farewell party. They just didn’t want to say it. So glad they gave him his roses on the living side of life.
I remember when it came out and I watched it on my mum's VCR, something in me just felt like this was a farewell party because it was obvious that multiple sclerosis was in its advanced stage. He was one of a kind and I am just glad that the world got to show him how much they appreciated him while he was on earth
The next 14 years were tough for Richard, but he had good days and he still performed stand up in his wheelchair, he gave no fucks, he was a raw genius to the end! Great statue of him in Peoria, Illinois!
Richard didn't die until December 2005, he lived 14 years after this gathering, so what point are you trying to make?
@@umarabdul-ali6868 A fairly straightforward point.
@@GordonCaledoniadamn I'd love to see that statue!
91 isnt that long ago, but it feels like an eternity. You don't really realize how the world changes until you start looking back.
You aint lying
💯
So true
I was 19 and it feels like an eternity but it also feels like it was yesterday
Funny how time works
Just saying 🇳🇴
This was a very moving tribute to Pryor, Eddie should be next.
As much as I've watched Richard Pryor, and a bunch of other comedians I have never seen this tribute to Richard Pryor ever before until February the 7th 2024. Richard if you're in heaven and you can read this, just know that you are loved forever by the world!
I remember when this first aired and I was 11
I am just seeing it June 2024
They need to give Eddie a party too. Eddie IS the party!
Most definitely, he'll get his
He already got one. Look it up.
This was a dose of medicine! I never knew about this special. It was incredibly nostalgic. Richard is the true King of Comedy. 🙏🏽
Nostalgic 😮oh big word.😂🙄
That moment with Keenan Ivory Wayans was amazing
2024 and watching this was just beautiful!!!! It’s crazy how many are gone and how time has changed, in comedy, in music and in love for our black community.
Yes yes yes we lost a lot of entertained in this event RIP 2 ALL WE LOST😢
Wow in 1990 I became, a mother of 5 my beauty 😍 arrived in 1990 ,that being said
capturing these moments of all these gaints , in there own right just GOOD!!#YUP
It was like living in time again just sitting in front of the TV , watching all the good shows. 70s and 80s was beautiful
🙌🙌🙌
I was thinking the same thing. Mostly all the greats all gone. In this video which is crazy and now for. Some it's been over 10 years. And this video is over 30 years ❤.
So many legends in one room. The 90s were great.
Why am i just seeing this? Im watching this as if it was yesterday. This was a great tribute. I miss the 90s
OMG... this is great... Richard Pryor was so funny... glad that they honored him while he was still alive...
Awesome👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾A Star packed celebration for a deserving Legend🕺😎 Continue to Rest in Peace Mr. Richard Pryor 😇Lots of Love from Evaton, South Africa 🇿🇦
Thank you Eddie Murphy for doing this for Richard Pryor! You too sir are one of the greatest in Comedy ❤
Wow, when Eddie did the impression of James in front of James. I was done. Please stick a fork in me. Too funny. I Love Comedians!!! Outstanding.
Richard and Gene were like peanut butter and jelly.
Oops! Just read ths, and heard Richard Pryor say: "Peanut butter, my *ss, more like vaseline". That ws Richard, not me 😅
I haven't cried like this since forever! Richard Pryor will ALWAYS be the Greatest Of All Time!! No one can touch his greatness! Nor should they even try. And Keenan Ivory Wayans tribute was one of the most beautiful of the night! With the internet blowing up lately, with folks being called out, and exposed, with people telling their truths, with Richard, non of that was ever necessary, because he told you who he was from the very beginning. Oh how much we loved not just your craft, but we genuinely loved you! 🙏🏽🕊🐐🖤🖤
I loved this, it was a very nice treat
When you have Richard Pryor, eddie Murphy and all of these amazing people together , you can't help but to cry laughing and just cry because we miss Richard pryor
I didn't know that Richard Pryor suffered so much
I also thought Gene Wilder's tribute was really touching.😢
R.I.P To The King Of Comedy Richard Pryor, Still Miss You Always
I grew up listening to Richard Pryors albums He paved the way for the comics of the future generation He always was honest about his life and mistakes I loved this man When I saw tears in his eyes when his peers were talking about the influence he had on their lives I cried You are truly missed RIP Mr Pryor ♥️
Thank You Richard Prior
Damn Keenen did have me crying. This was a great tribute to have especially since he was able to attend it.
YESSSSSS THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL
Honorable he got his chance finally wow ! I was moved! ❤
I loved the way Keenen honored Richard Pryor and stuck to his goal and by God's grace achieved and said Thank you in person to him at an event like this. So fitting. I too cried and clapped so loud and hard. Beautiful.
Seeing Gene Wilder on this made me so happy. Heartwarming. Legends, forever.
His speech was really good. His voice is so calming and relaxing. The movies they did together were the best.
@@solodolo6018 agree, some of my favorites
Eddie Murphy is always a great host or guest.
This was beautifully done! A wonderful example of how to show your appreciation and honor of a person who has influenced your life. ❤😊
Burt Reynolds' speech to Richard was the coolest I've heard in years.
And Richard Pryor never lost his title even in death.
Burt's autobiography is a great read, filled with insane stories.
I remember Burt when I was little, but never really got into his work. I didn't know he was great at telling comedic stories. @@GordonCaledonia
It was the best of the night ❤
Rain Pryor looks just like her dad
Two most beautiful words In Comedy= RICHARD PRYOR ❤

Word and Respect. :)
Keenan Ivory Waynes is a CLASS ACT....😅
I saw this when it aired in 1991. I was living in Dallas at the time. This brings back great memories during a time when I was going through a rough time, but I was slowly getting matters in order. To see Richard and so many celebs in this celebration that are no longer here is bittersweet. Thank you so much for posting.
😊ll
It was nice to see... I came to ur comment because you said u were going thru a rough time in 91. Didn't it all turn out to be some lesson you needed to learn? I only asked bc I was telling my 27 year old son to treat all hard times as lessons. Once you receive the lesson, you carry on and do better.
@Tayjahbaby8371 greetings Mademoiselle. It did turn out to be a lesson to learn, like many difficult times I have been through. You are telling your son the truth. As long as we live, we are going to have our moments when times are smooth or rough. A peace officer once told me that there are no bad days; some days are just better than others. Actor Fred Williams once said that in order to be successful in life, it is to work hard and not give a shi*. You gonna have rough times anyway. Just work through it 😆 Appreciate you responding to my comment 😃
Say I can dig where you maybe wherever you're coming from 1991 as a 45yr brother we all was going through some kind of shit but it was something else and to be looking back is the shit to Right On Baby Boomers
@TecwellTruck 1991 was a time when life took a shift for many. Even though I was getting through some rough times, I will never forget so many wonderful people that I met who encouraged me to hang there. Fast forward to 2024, I know we still have beautiful people around, but I seldom encounter people who are genuine and sincere. There are many reasons these days are far worse than the 90s. I am just glad I can look back and smile about the days of old. Since 911, the smiles started getting less. Since 2009, it has been hard to keep smiling dealing with people who, most of the time, turn out to be full of it 😆 I appreciate your comment 😃
this was beautiful.......never seen or knew about this special
Patti Patti Patti, this was great flowers for Pryor. Even Ricard had to stand for Patti.
And she was the only one to get Richard up out of his seat!!!
Thank you, This was so wonderful to watch. I miss Richard Pryor! Forever rest in peace!
Wow, that was just magic. Thanks so much for uploading this.
I wonder who wrote Burt Reynolds monologue? WOW! That was really funny and down to earth. I somehow missed this special all the way until now so thanks for posting this show. These were the days man!
Bobby Womack killed it!!!
It was PHENOMENAL!
THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER.THE LEGEND Mr. RICHARD PRYOR THE BEST COMEDIAN YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.REST in PEACE RICHARD.

Watching...... What a Talent, Gift, Wisdom...RIP Mr. Richard Pryor.... on repeat...2024
Came here after reading Pryor Convictions. Richard was a beautiful, funny guy.
RIP Richard, I hope you're still chasing the P. up there 😁
This was one of the most touching and beautiful tributes I've ever seen. I remember listening to Richards albums when I was a little kid. My dad being an r&b musician I grew up in bars and backstages. After a while you aren't thought of as a little kid. Especially when you can load your pockets with cash playing 3 card Monty and other methods of relieving adults of the burden of carrying a heavy wallet. I had many "uncles" most of them were pigmently gifted where as dad and I were not. They'd be sitting around talking about Richards acts and dad would do his version of Mudd Bone. The first album I got to keep had the skit about 11:30. I'd do it at school and my friends would die laughing. Soon we'd be listening to it every day. To see the looks on kids faces when they heard that was priceless. Scared the hell out of some. To others it was our thing. Most kids grew up on sesame Street and electric company. I grew up on Monty Python,Cheech and Chong and Richard Pryor. I don't know how anyone could watch this show with dry eyes. Rip Richard you truly are loved and missed.
Good show.
I'm balling after Kenyon Ivory Wayon's speech. Lord, I hope I spelled his name right. I have grown up watching Richard Pryor and realizing there was something special about him. It was a great feeling. To this day, I still feel the same way.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Thank you very much for uploading this. It is truly a heartwarming homage.
WOW!! What a treat! Thank you so so much🙏🏽❤
What a fabulous time capsule!!! thank you
What a night ,straight class Richard Pryor will always be the people's champ, the king, how many of us has his comdey and words gotten use through the trails of life, the man will live on untill the end of time.

What a wonderful time that was for music and entertainment, those days will never come back 😔
This is when entertainment was great.
Moments like this make your day back in the days on Sunday my dad an my older brother listened to record hangers bilcrosby and Richard prayer
What a wonderful homage to the most amazing comedic genius. RIP Richard Pryor. 🙏
1/14/24: Wow, accidently found this and so glad. The room is so full of Black stars, talent and money, you can tell Eddie is in his beginning days. This video is great!. Love and respect my favorite comedian Mr. Richard Pryor. One of a kind original, never will be another like him.
LOOK AT ALL THOSE STRONG - HANDSOME KINGS IN ONE BUILDING!! 👑 RIP KING RICHARD!!❤
I remember watching this with my family!! Wow bought back great memories ❤❤❤❤❤
If you've ever wondered where Eddie got the idea for Randy Watson & Sexual Chocolate, (Coming to America) You just saw it with Bobby Womack … On a serious note, Richard Pryor IS the one of the reasons life can at times be utterly amazing. If there's one person on earth that should have stood no chance at all getting where he got, it's him, given the times and his early life.
He'd readily admit himself he sucked at being lots of things and he did, BUT as a comedian he made everyone else look like they were all just driving in the slow lane.
His observation and storytelling style, to this day are what others strive to emulate. It's rare to pull off, yet he made it look effortless. Largely as it was his own life he was talking about and I highly doubt others could, or would make it seem remotely funny considering such a life.
He's widely and rightly regarded as one of the greatest and most important stand-up comedians of all time. Dave Chappelle said of Pryor, "You know those, like, evolution charts of man? He was the dude walking upright" Enough said.
❤❤❤
1:00:45 Rodney King .. police beating... Best joke of the night
Thank you Eddie Murphy! I Thoroughly Enjoyed this nearly 34 years later. To see All the popular celebrities I grew up on & the many clips of footage of Richard Blessing us with his Gift of Comedy is Genuinely Priceless. I pray & hope Eddie is around a long time & that im able to see him Blessed 10 fold the way he & all the others Loved on Richard.🙏🏾🙏🏾❤️❤️
I can't never get enough of Richard Pryor R.I.P You will never be forgotten but always be remembered. He brightens up so many of our lives with his comedy and I'm so glad that, that was acknowledged to and for you while you were still here. Rest easy Mr.Pryor you are truly missed. It's such a blessing to be celebrated while one is still here and to see and feel just how much one is truly loved.Thank you crown Jewel for sharing such a heartfelt celebration with us. I'm sure Mr.Prayor is looking down on this with smiles of joy that even now he hasn't been forgotten.
The performance of the song 'Wait until the Night' was unbelievably great. Burt Reynolds speech in tribute to Richard Pryor was emotional, real, and ultimately, true, because Pryor holds the title. What's amazing about Keenan Ivory Wayans speech is that Richard gave that feeling to white kids also. He had such a deep humanity to him. Good god is Stevie Wonder talented. We hear it all the time, but holy x is he a great vocalist.
OMG. Thank you for posting. Just watched Gene's segment and discovered that he wasnt playing Willy Wonka in that movie....he was Willy Wonka in real life.
Exactly
Couldn't have had a better opening act! James Brown "The Godfather of SOUL" Very impressive grp of friends to Celebrate the Late great Comedic genius Mr Richard Pryor! I couldn't help but wonder. Where was Mr Paul Mooney? Overall this was an OUTSTANDING celebration for Richard Pryor! 🎉❤

That was my first time.. awsum moment to have shared. Bb king is forever in my soul. God bless you BB
Great special. I saw this when it aired on TV. My only beef is why they waited til he wasn’t well to do this? Why not do this in ‘85 or something? Then again, at least he got his flowers when he was alive to see it.
So nice they did this for him and spotlight was given to MS
This was a great revisit❤
1:00:28 *Bobcat Goldthwait's mother told him not to watch Richard Pryor. From that restriction, Bobcat knew that Richard had to be really, really good.*
It’s April 2024, and I just stumbled upon this. It is so touching ❤️ I was not prepared to cry upon listening to Keenan’s reflections, or Gene Wilders loving words, or Stevie Wonder’s musical tribute with the beautiful song “These Three Words”. I’ve always loved Richard Pryor’s humor and unique personality. He was a comedic genius, and a sensitive soul, I can see that about him now. So much love was given to Richard Pryor that evening. Rest in Peace, Richard. You are an Angel and we miss you and love you ❤
Thank you for watching! We’re so glad you found this and enjoyed it.
Mr Richard Pryor was one great man, it's February 19, 2024 and I'm just seeing this for the first time.
99.9% will never have this type of celebration.Richard Pryor was as legend (well deserved)..but us average folk, love your family (simple good morning, have a nice day, love you) is a celebration
Keenen Ivory Wayans closing speech was amazing
Thank you so much for uploading this. I pray all other uploads like this just sitting on someones shelf or digital will upload for the World to enjoy & get a 'feel good feeling' now missing from out current universe. I remember King of Comedy Rich Pryor. Brings me in mind of wen times were spiritually better & happier in life being brought up by my grandparents in brooklyn, watching the RP show, Carol Burnette, Gene Wilder & Rich Pryor, The Flip Wilson show, etc. The truly good period of my life. Wen my grands were still alive. When the people in my family hadnt turned into demons against me yet; trying to make my life a living hell. Great trip down memory lane & seeing a person, quite deserving receive his flowers from his peers, mentees, & admirers while Still alive on earth🎉 Amen to that!. Awesome❤ Thanks for the ride down mem lane💕💫👍
Richard spoke about the year 2025, which is next year! Hands down the best comedian ever!

What a Tribute to Richard. Bobby Womack gave one of the best performances I've ever seen him do!!
2/13/24 Just discovered this. Straight Comedy!
Showbiz was so authentic back then.... It feels like a different reality
James Brown was a SHOWMAN!
No wonder Michael said he grew up on him and imitated a lot of his Motown stuff as an influence for his stuff
Of all the people there, Keenen Ivory Wayans stands out amongst them all. He was kind, sincere and his words were so heartfelt. His speech literally brought tears to my eyes.
