  • I had this gorgeous and mostly gentle fish for over 2 years and she was starting to outgrow my 150 gallon aquarium. She found a bigger home, last I heard in a 500 gallon aquarium. I wish the reseller would have sent the new owner contact info so that I can see how she's doing once in a while, as I grew attached to that fish.

      Andy G She has a new home along with the rest to a 500 gallon aquarium in the next state over, according to the dealer who originally bought them from me.

      Awesome and also, I'm sorry. If you feel the way I do about my fish it is hard letting them go. People don't realize they become your buddies.

      M.R. Hawks Yeah, it has taken a while to not have them around anymore. It was very strange not having any swimming fish in my dinning room after 4 years. Not having to feed them, change their tank, worry about keeping the kitchen lights off when their lights go out etc. I miss them and really enjoyed having them around. Just got expensive keeping them after a while.

      +BGK Rainbow fish are nothing like saltwater fish just because of their colors; they're more like trout. The only fish that come close to similar behavior and intelligence as saltwater fish are puffers and cichlids. Even though crayfish have fish in their name, I really don't consider them to be in the fish family; I think they are a closer relative to the arachnid family such as scorpions and spiders, minus the poison. I wouldn't think of putting a lobster or crayfish in the same tank as any fish since they can be aggressive carnivorous predators and scavengers.

    They need at least a 300 gallon tank.

      Yeah they all ended up going to a 500 gallon aquarium home in a nearby city after I sold them all a few years ago.

      pretty sure it was a juvenile, not a sub-adult like the one you see in this video.

    I'm sorry you have to get rid of her

    • @3DEditor
      @3DEditor  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks, yeah, there comes a time when you just got to do what's best for a creature's comfort. It's either find her a bigger home that is kept up well enough, or me continuing to do 50 - 100 gallon water changes per month just to keep their environment healthy. That gets expensive after a while. I think someone with a larger aquarium with a more than sufficient skimmer should be more suitable.

      +3D Editor do you have her i have several big tanks and all have sumps and skimmers

    • @3DEditor
      @3DEditor  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +kvpestman Yeah, I unfortunately had to get rid of all my fish this last Spring because some idiot that moved in next door, set too much heavy stuff on the top shelf of his closet right where the hot water heater was, busted a hose in the heater and flooded entire building.
      Luckily the fish went to a bigger 300 gallon home, but I got minimum money for all my fish. I invested around $650 for all my fish and only got $170 for all of them.
      My insurance doesn't cover for loss of pets either. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of that fish, missing seeing them every day. I still have the tank though, I may get it going again one day once we move to a bigger place that's not connected to any other building surrounded by negligent people.

      maybe by themselves if you don't want major nitrate and phosphate spikes. They eat a lot. Between my trigger and a couple other medium size fish in my 150 tank, I was needing to do 50 gallon water changes every two weeks. wasn't fun.

      I have mine in with a Picasso, no skimmer needed. I feed nls pellets and 2 or 3x a week frozen. Everything seems to be fine. I do 15 gallon water changes every 2 weeks

      +Adam B maybe my issue was feeding them variety of meaty foods and seaweed twice a day. kept the fish healthy and happy at least.

      i used to have saltwater tank but after killing so many fishes i gave up. My water ph level was perfect and water temperture was perfect and i only bought friendly fishes so no fighting or stress to eachother but fish kept dying over time. I might try again someday. Any tips you can give me? thanks

      You didn't mention that you kept the Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrates tested and kept in check. If those are high on the chart, especially with Ammonia and Nitrite, your fish will die.
      Also don't do too much water change, otherwise your ammonia and nitrite will spike. 30% water change once every two weeks is plenty.
      Don't overfeed, and don't have too many fish in the tank either. You also need to have a proper quarantine system before putting any new fish in the main system, to insure new fish are disease free. You need to use the proper medication with the proper amount, ONLY in your quarantine tank system and quarantine your fish for no less than one month.
      You need to feed your fish as normal in quarantine system too. The best way to have a quarantine system is to have one already set up, fully cycled before you add any fish in quarantine system, otherwise you're going to have to do way too many water changes daily; that's no fun. When you quarantine, only use medication that will NOT kill beneficial bacteria. "Cupramine" is a great choice for that. Anything that is high in chelated copper, WILL KILL of any beneficial bacteria and WILL KILL your fish from ammonia and nitrite spikes.

    How do you know it's a female? I'm curious since I have a clown trigger as well :)

    • @3DEditor
      @3DEditor  9 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Nora Tu Female adults develop pink stripes on their caudal and anal fins and male adults develop blue stripes on their caudal and anal fins. You won't see those colors develop until they reach at least 8 or more inches tail to mouth

      could you brief me a bit on how you cook it? thanks.

    • @3DEditor
      @3DEditor  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Vivek Agarwala you don't cook any fish food, frozen or thawed raw. It's safest to feed fish frozen meaty foods to eliminate risk of introducing ich or other disease through live food.
