Yet people are still infatuated with those cultures that they take the time to learn them so it's easier for them to communicate with the people who speak in those languages, to do business, or just for the love of learning the language.

Lots of non locals in Malaysia always mention about there being not much pork in Malaysia or isn't easy to find . But as a Malaysian Chinese since birth I've never had this problem , so I think it's because tourist or foreigners just don't know how shops and towns in Malaysia work as well as long time Malaysian do .
So if you like pork , don't worry you won't have a problem in Malaysia , it's actually not that hard unless you live a Malay or Indian area ( as in the residents of the area is primarily Malay or Indian ) because businesses there will obviously cater to their taste . If you live in a Chinese area is very easy to find pork dishes .
I recommend making a Chinese friend , they should be able to take you around where to find Chinese restaurants or other restaurant which are non halal easily .
The town I live in luckily is quite balance in all three cultures , so I never have any problem finding Malay , Chinese or Indian food .
So pack of pork serving restaurants is not a problem here .
To other Malaysians what advice can you give to help better navigate Malaysia ?

Then kalau company hantar kerja ke luar negara, diorg akan dpt 2 gaji.. gaji kt jpun dan gaji kt msia.. so total gaji dlm rm16k..
(Tp case dia xsure dia based in kl shj atau company hantar. Klu dia only base in kl aku assume 8k je la tp still byk kot.)
So xheran pun klu tgok org jpun kt kl sewa rumah mahal2. Sbb sewa kt tokyo pun average rm3k.
Mcm mne aku tau? Aku tau la!

I’m Japanese been living in Malaysia for 3 years now.
Never expect anything goes on time in this country.
When someone says “will be there in 1hr” this means he will be there within 5hrs or maybe not coming in worst case.
Seems like 1hr=a few hrs for Malaysian. Not 60min.
