Respect on passing on that second bull can. Even with a dog, a wounded bird hiding in cattails is never a 100% recovery. Wise decision that resulted in another subscriber for ya!
I'm appreciating that your keeping your videos "natural". Getting tired of some of the other guys trying to pimp their gear. I work so I can afford to hunt, not so I can support other peoples hunts.
What a great limit bag! I have never shot 2 canvasbacks in one hunt! Plus you were on the x and it didn't seem like anyone else was around at all. Special memories made. Thanks!
What an awesome all drake limit with the mighty 20. Now you'll have to bust out the 28 and do the same. I always hate to stumble when out in the mud and water, sucks getting wet. Glad the birds wanted to cooperate.
What a hunt! Definitely jealous of the cold weather you've got over there. We're looking at high's in the 70s all week in central IL. Keep the vids coming man!!
Love it! At my club in UT we have all the ducks you shot on a regular basis. The canvasback is our marquee bird. I call your limit a “Heinz 57”. As you know, you are usually shoot 5 drake mallards and hoping to shoot the bonus bird. Way to go! A great day! Thanks!
Awesome! so jealous. Worst start I've ever had to a duck season, worried it might be the worst season I've ever had. Hopefully more weather is on the way.
@@HighPrairieSportsmen Yeah, it was weird. For some reason my computer got glitchy and I had to do a restart that was about the same amount of time as your video. 🤷🏻♂️
Hey there my man. I love your videos. I’ve been trying to get one of the TH-cam guys to make a video of waterfowl ID while in flight or at a distance. I’m very impressed with all of you and how well you identify waterfowl so quickly at a distance or in flight. I know it comes with experience but it would be awesome if someone made a video of clips of there hunts and do a voice over describing what your seeing to identify birds.
Here's an old one I made for Duck ID at a distance. th-cam.com/video/OS9sr5zPzwQ/w-d-xo.html It's not species-specific but more just general characteristics. I can make an updated one this offseason.
Love your video. What gun are you using? And what length of barrel? I have a 28” pump and it feels so heavy in my left hand…. thinking about going shorter length
Respectfully, is nice to see you have graduated from just shooting ducks to picking out the drakes and how happy you seem to be with the success of it! The amount of ducks that will potentially be in next years flight will increase dramatically. While legal to shoot hens and having accidents happen, shooting for just the drakes is not only beneficial to the flocks, it is beneficial to ones soul also. CONGRATS!
Do u run drake cans in ur puddle duck spreads alot? Even if no cans around? Been thinking of adding some cans to my spread just for visibility, hardly ever seen any where i hunt puddle ducks.
Depends where I hunt. If I'm hunting areas that I've seen them before, I'll run some. If not, I keep them put away. Same with my coots. But they do add a lot of visibility to the spread.
What an amazing mixed bag man! Do you know a reliable place to shoot a canvasback? We have more duck species where I live than anywhere else but that’s one of the only ones we don’t have.
@@HighPrairieSportsmen Thanks for quick replies. Just a suggestion, show your shotkam misses as well as your kills. Average shooters like myself will appreciate it! 😆
Great hunt lots of big ducks shot. What is ur overall opinion of the lethality of the 20 gauge over the 12? I shot a 20 pump Winchester when I was a youth which I still have but havent shot since I went to the 12 for hunting at least. I was debating on getting a semi auto 20 but love my 12 gauges. Would u recommend the 20 gauge for goose hunting?
Thanks! It really depends how you hunt. Get em close and a .410 will do the trick. I've actually started hunting more with my 28 gauge, just for fun. The only thing is with the smaller gauges it might be worth looking at nontoxic shot other than steel. I've killed many geese with my 20 gauge. Just need a suitable choke and to get them into closer range.
Awesome hunt! This is the best hunt I've seen on TH-cam this season yet. Good job man.
Appreciate it!
@@HighPrairieSportsmen pick up your shells i seen you just throw one
@Jordan Little I pick all my shells up (as well as other people's). I was throwing it with the other empties.

I know Titus was shaking his fist when you let them shovelers swim around 😂. Another great hunt and video!
If they were plumed out drakes, I may have shot one haha. Thanks Yung Thomas!
Watching them birds lock in on the coot spread makes me smile.

Agreed I really think your videos rock. No fluff, just hunt. It’s not all mallards, it’s hunting. Effort well spent and you are rewarded

Stellar day! I've always loved plucking Canvasbacks, stuffing them, and slow baking them! Delicious!
Thanks! They're delicious for sure
Hey Matt,
Another fantastic hunt. The mixed bags really does it for me. Keep it going...

A limit of ducks, a limit of canvasbacks, a pintail limit, and all drakes....I would say that was a decent day. Great vid.
