I took my ADV350 around Wales this year, my mates thought I was bonkers! I enjoyed it as much as I would using any of my other bikes. Fair play for touring around Europe! Safe riding kind sir.
Hello Team Tempest, very good to hear from you today and hope all is well with you. Well, I'm sure you had the last laugh on your ADV trip around Wales - happy in the knowledge of supreme comfort, great economy and bungee straps. What's not to like? Part 2 is coming in a bit! All the best, thanks again for stopping by, cheers, Phil.
Took my xmax250 from midlands to Gibraltar twice. Biker of 48 yrs and owned many bikes and commuted on various c50/70/125 over the years. Until you ride one of these you can’t believe how capable and comfortable they are. Very easy diy too. Love fact no chain, just belt at 12k. Rear tyre change is a pain ( take a lot of stuff apart to get rear wheel out) as is the fuel consumption 65-70 which is the same as my v strom. I can see why so many people use them on the continent. Lovely watch cheers
Good morning Mr. Volt good to hear from you and your own experience on scooters. And yes, I agree completely on all points although I haven't taken the rear wheel out myself (yet!). The trips over to Gibraltar must have been fabulous. I was there many years ago and loved it. Glad you enjoyed the video, all the best, cheers, Phil.
I’m trying to decide between. Forza 350 or the V Strom 650. Haven’t had a bike for 15 years so I suspect I will be pleased with any bike, but I have never had a scooter. Which do you find is the bike you grab most, V Strom or Scooter?
@@seansixfive Hmm...that's a tricky question as I'm a total bike fan to be honest and in terms of 'grabbing' you, for me a bike would always win out in terms of speed, handling and fun. However....That's the difference between need and want and having just ridden the Scooter to Europe where it was brilliant if I could only have one machine to 'do everything' with around £5K to spend, I'd go for the ADV and wouldn't be too disappointed at all. It's still a lot of fun, it's quick enough and handles well. But if you like revving an engine through the gears as I do, then it won't quite match the bike in terms of excitement. Yet the scooter is just so useful and effective! that probably doesn't help! Sorry! Anyway, let me know what you'd decide, all the best and thanks for stopping by, cheers, Phil.
Hello Phil, you completed the stage despite the not at all friendly weather and posted nice pictures, I find that admirable. In Austria and in some other European countries there was flooding in September and I even had to drive on a muddy road with my ADV 350. But she mastered this brilliantly too-> she is a wild workhorse after all- ROOOAAAA 😄😉. I'm looking forward to part 2 and to photos in sunshine, maybe even during the ride. Thanks for showing.
Thank you very much and yes, compared to Austria / Poland it seems I did avoid the really bad weather and unlike you never had to ride on a muddy road 😀 You did well!! Even better, part 2 does include some (very cold) ☀️! All the best, thanks for stopping by, cheers, Phil.
Good morning Erwin and it's great to hear from you. I had a great time in Belgium - really enjoyed it and Namur on the way back was really nice. I must apologise for all the poor pronunciation though! Hope all is well with you and your Forza and greetings from the UK, cheers, Phil.
Thanks very much Andrew! I'm back home now and while the weather only improved in the final 2 days (as always) I had a cracking time thanks. Hope your doing well, have a great weekend, cheers, Phil.
Thanks for sharing Phil, beautifully made video, I absolutely love these small villages, narrow streets.....all the cafes you can sit and eat in... looks lovely. Thanks again for sharing and safe travels
Good morning Guzziman, hope you're doing well today. Thanks for your kind comments and yes, those little towns and villages with narrow winding streets are just fabulous. I'd love to see what it's like at Christmas. All the best, more coming soon, cheers, Phil.
Ribeauville had some amazing archutecture .Always a treat to come along with your eye for finding the beautiful shots .What Martha Stewart called " the beauty role".I hope you brought flanal for an under layer .. I just dress like I am going alpine skiing when the temprature drops .Someone gave me silk long johns :very light and man they hold the body heat .I hope you are having a blast ...:)
Good morning Guy, glad you enjoyed the architecture and thanks for your comments. And....there's even more and better to come on the return trip - I'm looking forward to sharing it as you'll love it. If you ever decided to branch out and have a pottery in France, the Alsace is definitely the place. As for layers - I ended up wearing my waterproof walking jacket under my bike jacket which worked quite well while the leather jeans kept me warm. Good to know about your long johns :-) Have a good day / weekend, cheers, Phil.
3:12 I like the jacket. I like Belgium. The underseat storage of the 350 must be great when touring. Bad weather for the trip. 9:50 Great place to stay. 11:28 Great old bike. 13:09 Good-looking scooter from the front. Good video. Nick
Thanks very much Nick - all good with you? The ADV just made everything easy - especially with the inclement weather. The storage was just great though - stop somewhere, stash the helmet and jacket (although I kept the jacket on as it was so cold) and then look like a normal human being. I didnt' really want for more speed either. And yeah the Mirabelle / Ribeauville was just brilliant - thoroughly enjoyed my time there. All the best, cheers, Phil.
Great video Phil, good to see the 350 ADV touring. I love mine... touring next year I think. Looking forward to the next 740 episodes of this epic, nay awesome adventure! ATB Alistair 👍
Hey Alistair, how are you doing? Thanks for your comments and yeah, I'm thinking the ADV is the most versatile, easy, VFM touring bike in Honda's range! It was great. Episode 2 of 740 coming soon :-) Cheers, Phil.
Some say we ride to spend some time with our inner self, but you somehow managed to meet your outer self. Cheers to The Clone from the ferry:) I’m a fan of your cinematogtaphy, Phil. Skill cannot be bought, but maybe you can reveal what camera do you use? Greetings from Poland!
Afternoon Rafał, great to hear from again and ha ha, yeah, 'my outer self' ! Thanks so much for your comments on the shots and in answer to your question, all the 'nice' shots are taken with the (much maligned) Panasonic GH6...It's a cracking camera and with a couple of small lenses it's both easy to transport and has everything you need. Recommended and super cheap now! Hope all is well in Poland and that you were not hit too badly by the floods a few weeks ago, cheers., Phil.
Morning Adrian, good to hear from you and thanks for your comments. I've just looked at some of your ADV Lake District videos - they are just lovely. For info I got back home safely with no drama whatsoever! All the best, cheers, Phil.
Too right about scooter protection - changed ADV for the Vulcan and Storm Whats-its-name hit the UK same time as I was doing Torquay to Heysham, you thought you had wet but I had Carlsberg wet! Nice Travelmentary Phil, but was alarmed with railway tracks, not another portillo show!!!
Good morning Dr. Doolittle - how are you doing? Ha ha yes, I could imagine there's quite a difference between the Vulcan and ADV. To be honest I was thinking a similar thought when I was riding the ADV and very thankful I wasn't riding the Guzzi when it was hosing it down. Ah yes, there was a bit of rain a few weeks ago down South wasn't there? Hopefully you've dried out... As for Portillo, ahem, well, there are more trains coming up I'm afraid. I don't wear salmon coloured trousers though so hopefully that's OK? Al;l the best, have a great weekend, cheers, Phil.

Hi Phil, really enjoyed Part 1 of your travel vlog from your trip to The Alps!Real quality stuff! Strange to think that we were enjoying 30 degree heat in Northern Portugal at exactly the same time! 🤔👍
Good morning Paul, how are you doing? Glad you enjoyed the video and yes, the weather variance is ever so strange! Like, today in Northumberland in October it's still warmer than France in September! Whatever next? Raining frogs? Anyway, hope you had a good time in Portugal Paul, all the best, cheers, Phil.
Hey Peter, good to hear from you & thank for stopping by. I totally agree, the ADV is a great scooter and a great bike actually - it certainly feels like one on the road. All the best, cheers, Phil.
Sitting here now having gone X Poole / Cherbourg on my ADV 350 ,enjoying a beer Spain side of the Pryenees. Great bike, comfortable, bit of a small tank, gotta keep an eye on that side of it and the French motorway work power wise but all in all... Good stuff!!
Hey John, ooh that sounds nice - hopefully you're getting some good weather? The ADV is a great bike and normally I'd say the fuel range is quite acceptable but the thing is I could sit on the ADV easily for 200 miles without stopping so as you say another half a gallon or so would really improve it. Also it's not the easiest to fill up - especially when you're parked up in the shade. That's about it though! Hope the rest of your trip goes well & let me know how you get on, cheers, Phil.
What a lovely and interesting trip, despite the weather. These locales are beautiful. I especially enjoyed the village you stayed in prior to traveling to Switzerland. Look forward to the next step of your journey. All the best!

Top touring video, Phil. The Germans probably closed the border in sympathy with their Belgian friends over your murdering of the names of rivers, towns & geographical features in general! Thomas is far too polite to correct you, but as a fellow Brit & Guzzista, I can let you know, without embarrassment.
Good morning Hugh, er yes, you're probably right. To be honest I can't even pronounce places a few miles away correctly. Thing is, if I started rolling my R's and using the glottal stop, I just end up spraying phlegm everywhere which in the interests of X-Euro harmony would never do. Especially when there's food around. I take your observations in the spirt in which they were meant. I suspect Thomas is going to tell me off though. I probably pronounced his name wrong and everything. Oops. Have a good day Hugh, cheers, Phil.
