Athy "The Jem of Kildare"

A short film by Photographer /Author Robert Redmond to help promote the beauty of Athy which is a Heritage Town situated in south Kildare on the River Barrow , the town is steeped in History and Heritage and well worth a visit.

Everywhere looks good from the sky. In reality the town is dead. Nothing but bookies, nail salons, hair dressers and charity shops left. You know a town never had much of a history when the build a statue to a wealthy elite protestant like
Shackleton. A man who wouldn't give the local Catholics the time of day.
