- Collingwood has issued a warning to the rest of the competition with a stylish and comprehensive 71-point victory over Port Adelaide at the MCG.
The Magpies' all-action game style was on show, particularly in a first-half demolition when they piled on nine goals in a row, before running out winners 21.9 (135) to 9.10 (64).

Collingwood played 4 quarter footy 2 weeks in a row. This is what we want to see from the Pies, let's go boys.
They did slow down a bit in the 3 qtr but the finished strong in the last so still happy

Big test for both clubs. Tigers obviously the best team of the last 6 years. If Collingwood win next week by a reasonable margin they will certainly be front runners with the best of the comp as Flag fancies. Huge task though.

@@SilentHotdog28 Actually, Collingwood is the only team in VFL/AFL history to finish a season undefeated. In the late twenties under Jock McHale. Where we won like four premierships in a row (also a record).
@@SilentHotdog28 I agree. Even Essendon in 2000 went 21-1. I can see them maybe losing 2-3 games because some teams will catch them out on their off days.

West coast supporter here and should probably be shot for saying this, but it’s only round 2 and collingwood are looking like and absolute force to be reckoned with, honestly some seriously jaw dropping footy being played by this group that hasn’t been seen in years, I’ll be incredibly surprised if they don’t end up with premiership medals around their necks this year 😅

They play like a video game. It’s almost unrealistic at times. Tap, kick, kick, goal, repeat. It’s like they’ve made a deal with the devil they have so much luck and everything pays off.

I was at the game. I've needed the entertainment and it delivered.
Port, while still quick, seemed a bit sloppy in this round during the game and the opoosition made it quick and painless (kind of).😅 You're welcome, brisbane.
Umpires calls were questionable, sure, but from what i seen, they were correct (i can see many people disagree with this).
And they were, and still are, so many negative complaints from other folks on here and twitter i don't want to mention or hear. Best just stay away.

Also, did anyone witness a brawl in the stands of this game, yesterday? Some port fan was involved, throwing jabs at a magpie member. Luckily, security was there to escort them out. I didn't see it, we stayed out of it. Some folks tweet or claim it was 'aforementioned' some pies fan who started it. A bit rich coming from them, thinking it was the zebra stripes argument again. I can think of something worse than that. Ever seen the carlton vs richmond report (2019) or even their last year's match fight against essendon even? No offence.
Nobody wants gets hurt at games like these. We want to enjoy a good game and that is all we could ask for.😥

Okay, I saw a few comments saying that "Collingwood players were acting like they've won the Premiership and it's only Round 2". They were celebrating because they won by a very big margin. It was a smashing team effort by Collingwood and the Party Pies have arrived to cut the Power short. Collingwood were electrifying. Interestingly enough, I'm having pies for dinner (with vegetables right now).
Collingwood have Richmond next week while Port Adelaide take on Adelaide in next week's Saturday Night Showdown.

Well his selection panel lost him the game on Thursday night. Port never play enough tall defenders against teams that have 200cm threats. They try to play McKenzie as a tall defender when they have Clurey who isn’t bad, they always have Jonas playing 10cm short and Aliir shouldn’t be playing a key 1:1 spot, he needs to be able to drop off and intercept. Port make the dumbest selections and always pay for it lol
I'm not sure how anyone can be surprised by this. Thump a title contender at home, then get thumped by another one the following week away. Port have been one of the most inconsistent teams in the comp in recent memory. Right now, they probably belong around 7th-9th. Not enough good to be guaranteed finals but not bad enough to miss them completely
