I found out a few years ago that my great-great uncle was KIA at Gallipoli. Anzac day always meant something to me as an Aussie, but it means something else now. Watching this is just kind of making me a little emotional. Thank you to all who serve and currently serve. Lest We Forget.
This just hit me hard, Australian through and through yet been in the USA for the last 5 years almost, can forget and won’t forget my bringing you and year after year of remembrance. Lest we forget
I don't like AFL, I'm a soccer fan, but goddamn I love that we do this as a nation at important AFL events. It simultaneously makes me more alienated, and more ingrained.
"Those heroes that shed their blood and lost their lives... You are now lying in the soil of a friendly country. Therefore rest in peace. There is no difference between the Johnnies and the Mehmets to us where they lie side by side now here in this country of ours... you, the mothers, who sent their sons from faraway countries wipe away your tears; your sons are now lying in our bosom and are in peace. After having lost their lives on this land. They have become our sons as well The Founder of Turkish Republic and the Presidential Mustafa Kemal ATATURK Best regards from Turkey...
NEVER FORGET THEM! Australia is clear at the other end of the world from me, but for years I was so horrified by all the atrocities done by the British Government to Australia's brave sons and daughters and their own sons and daughters that I first fell into grief and then began to study the entire span of the war. As a military devotee to our own Armed Forces and all good nations especially Australia and New Zealand's too (I include them right with Aussies. Anzac was the word to those here who don't know for Australian New Zealand Army Corps if I'm not 100% correct in the translation please correct me) and as a huge fan of Australia and New Zealand which for over 21 years I have longed to see my heart is with you all. Not just on this one day- forever. Not one day goes by when I don't remember the sacrifices made by all the nations who fought and continue to fight all over the globe for making the world a better place, but in this solemn case as an entire generation that were destroyed and devastated by the horrific and sickening living conditions, horrific and sickening battles, and the brutality of the war that never should have happened and with its occurrence truly should have ended the world wide cycle of bloodshed. Soldiers, sailors, marines, Airmen- they are brave and they are my biggest passion and inspiration. Australia to me and our other allies we are blessed to have and I consider us all as one together. We need each other. We have our national rivalries that need to be kept to only sporting events and we have very many different cultures, but everyone who serves America, Britain, Australia, New Zealand, and our long standing European brethren deserve the kind of attention and respect and love this service demonstrates. I am very choked up right now. Remember them and cherish their memory.
ANZAC day is when we commemorate the soldiers who have died at Gallipoli in WW1, Gallipoli was in the Ottoman Empire, the ANZACs stood for the Australian New Zealand Army Corps , and it was with a few French soldiers, but it is a commemoration because, the Ottoman Empire gave massive losses of Life to the ANZACs and the French and they had to pull out the troops, we say “Lest We Forget” that’s what we do :P
The world is falling apart it's all going wrong, when they tell you "we don't have a culture" remind them of this. That time your warriors answered, that time YOUR culture chose to defend itself. Never forget.
Quite a very moving ceremony EVEN IF the only game at Gallipoli was a rugby union match between Australia and NZ on Mudros Island. Pity this great theatre is spoilt too with James Hird and his team of magic potion experts. That aside a very moving service with a nice token towards the singing of God Defend NZ in English only.

Yes. We fought the wrong enemy in ww2. Our culture has been in decline ever since.
Oath brother.
So right alexander.
God bless the lot of you.
6:59 Why do they just sometimes Decide not to sing The Māori Verse?
Length most likely, NZ full anthem is 7 mins just the most common is sung
Why should they???
@@mjames4709 Because it's part of The Anthem.

Is the one playing the 🎺 in full and fuller house
Are you in a back alley smoking crack or what
Is he saying "catapult party" .... I didn#t know the AGF still used them...
Catafalque party,it means a bier or podium for a casket.

how is it a nice token that the anthem was only sung in English. its disrespectful
@@mattfisher3825majority of ANZAC corps from New Zealand were European descent. Also the two verses have very similar meanings.
