It went out of production now over 40 years ago, and yet the affection for this show lingers and lingers. The warmth for one another among the actors that these photos reveal confirms the hopes that fans have always held, and shared themselves.
The last entry was 2018 and mine is September 14, 2020. Dark Shadows was big in Southern New Jersey where I grew up. I was scared with each episode and was an only child so going to bed at night was hard to do. Still Jonathan Frid was the sole owner of the show but he too needed the existential cast supporting him with a crew that worked double time too. That's what makes a team and that's what made Dark Shadows so special! See you in the next life.......
I'm so glad to see the behind the scenes of Dark Shadows !!! I am a avid watcher of the best show ever produced....!!! Thanks for sharing. RIP JOnathan Frid !!!
I'm 43 and have been watching this TV show for the past few months on Amazon Prime. It's got me so captivated i'm still only on episode 723. Quite a ways too go yet. But it is amazingly well written and acted for it's time. Especially since their are many flubs of messed up lines throughout. But it's the show's mystique that keeps me enthralled. I can see why teens would rush home after school in the 60's & 70's too watch this. I know i would...!!!
What a great stroll down Memory Lane! Takes me right back to high school, when I was one of the kids rushing home to watch Dark Shadows! THANKS for posting!
Jeff Smith Me too. My bus got me home always in time to catch the last 15 minutes but my mother was kind enough to have the tv on to the station. No recorders back then
Very well put together montage - thank you! Your entire channel is, genuinely, a gift to us DS fans. I'm guessing that a fair amount of us were school age kids who rushed home to watch this program. Dark Shadows was a highlight in my childhood. We still can't get enough of Barnabas, Angelique, Quentin and the rest of the cast.
OOooooooh that was wonderful. Felt like I was right there. It was the summer of '69wasn't it and we are lucky to have these memories in our hearts. Love these pictures. They make it so much more tangeable. Thankyou Baron, mmmwah!
Great video and song. I can't get over how groovey looking middle-aged Grayson Hall was! By contrast, Laura Parker who was young at the time looked rather conservative considering that was the 60s! And the little boy who played David had his love beads! What a nice stroll down memory lane. Oh, one more thing, the performers [who were red hot famous at the time] looked pretty accessable. I understand that they would even take the subway home! Nowadays famous actors seem to live much more secluded lives.
Great photographs of many of the DS cast. When the show was on ABC, I thought DS was taped out in Los Angeles. I was very surprised when I learned that DS was taped in NYC. And, it never occurred to me that kids hung out around the studio to get autographs from the cast members. Looking at these photographs in 2021, it is bittersweet to see photos of Diana Millay, Christopher Pennock and Robert Rodan who died within the past several months. And, to see those photos of a very young and vivacious Denise Nickerson is very moving.
@@adelgado75 The studio was in NYC someplace in Manhattan I think I know it can be googled. After decades they just just two years ago tore it down and now they are replacing it with Condominiums, narrow and tall. The old two story brick studio was really narrow but long .
It's always a joy to see such candid photos. Fine job, Baron! What impresses me most is how the set designers were able to accommodate the beautiful trappings of the two houses and other sets into that nondescript building. From what I've read, it was a former lumber yard, which would account for the loading bay and roll up door. The DS gang were lucky to have their very own studio in that building. The fan graffiti on the bricks is charming. Good for the fans who got these shots for us!
Although Dark Shadows ended in 1971, I was introduced to it as a young child when it first started. Now in 2019 there is a television channel in my city called decades. The rebroadcast of the original Dark Shadows started on New Year's Eve of 2019. I am now watching episodes of Dark Shadows that I had absolutely never seen and never knew existed!!!! I wait patiently every night at 11 p.m. no matter how sleepy I am because if I miss one episode I will be lost. Thank you decades for reopening the memory of a program that I loved so much and still do to this day. and although many of the actors are now gone..😢😢 my favorite being Barnabas who left us 7 years ago. I still look at the program with the eyes of newness. Long live Dark Shadows☝☝☝
As of 2018 that brick studio building where the show was taped has been demolished. Condominiums have been built on that location where the ABC TV studio used to be.
Thanks a lot!!!! How I would have enjoyed being there when Dark Shadows was being taped. Long live Dark Shadows for the next 1000 years!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Greetings from Colombia
great off-camara pics....love David H. & Lara at 3:16 and David H. with his love beads on at 3:22. I was around his age when it originally aired, had a big crush on Don Briscoe. Thanks for showing! ;-)
Merry Christimas Baron VonBlixberg! What a great Christmas present! I loved the off stage pictures of the Dark Shadows Family Album! Especially at the end as to how they all look now! Thanks for keeping the flames alive!
I have the dvd set I bought one volume every month until I had the full set. I love to watch this show in Wisconsin winters while the cold wind blows just finished this year...
thank you its great! I used to run home from catholic grade school & we would watch then fan off the tv so my parents wouldn't catch on that we were doing HOMEWORK NOT LOOKING AT TV they knew
This is good Wendy, I have seen this one , too. I like the scrapbook video as well . My daughter likes the scenes with Josette and Barnabas in them, I think it is because of the romance between them. She is just about my age with i started watching the show in the 60's . Well thanks for the wonder videos , I enjoy watching them.
Thank you very much for all the hard work that you do. I have enjoyed all that you have given us so far. I would really love to see more of the 1840 eipsodes please? Thanks.
Dear Baron I thought I did comment on this video before. Oh well, I think its just awesome m' dear. Love the behind the scenes photos. You always do the research. Hope you and yours have a wonderful 2010 and maybe we will see some of the DS fans in Vancouver for the Winter Olympics. Take care everyone! Carol (Hecate55)
Ah, when an actor is working, life seems very, very good. So it is that the "DK" crew seem to be enjoying themselves immensely. All but Roger Davis, who reportedly was the most difficult of the cast. And what, were the epiodes shot in a studio on the lower east side of Manhattan, near, Soho, Chinatown, or the Municipal center?
You can tell Davis loved the fight scenes. I think he did what he could to make his scenes electrifying, but he does seem pretty aggressive. He was likable at first, as Peter Bradford, but soon became a cranky sourpuss. He was best as Dirk Wilkins in 1897, the rude grounds-keeper who lost his mind over Laura, and became a crazed vampire.
From a viewer who saw the show originally back in 1966 thinks the music used here SUCKS!!!!!! The music from the show is now available on CD. Should have use "The BLUE WHALE" cavern music from the TV show for this video!
Yeah. A totally embarrassing appalling choice of music. Couldn’t have gotten it worse. I just turned it all the way down and forgot about it. The Blue Whale music would’ve been great though.
I liked it. Damn tired of people who expect ONLY a carbon copy of what they've seen before. Boring as hell to use the same Dark Shadows music over and over and over. This music is nostalgic for the overall era from which this production was made, as well as nostalgia itself. Just looking back and looking around you NOW.

Who was more annoying: Morgan Collins or Bramwell Collins? I think it’s a toss-up.
I was one of the kids waiting outside the ABC Studios for an autograph 1967.

Wow. Excellent. Just now rewatching the entire episodes on Tubi. Takes me back.
That was so beautiful and sad, I watch the reruns everyday on Tubi, loved loved loved Dark Shadows, ROCK ON 🤘
As I look back on the clips, I miss it so much. I was an avid watcher........

Oh i love it, i love all your videos because no one else has rare pics like you do, Happy Holidays!!!!!!
Love this ....well done
Great job! Thanks for sharing!
Where exactly in NY was Dark Shadows filmed. Had to have been a rather large building. Those sets were really good.
Thanks so much for leading me to this video. Love it.
Did they knock the studio building down? I read a 2016 article that the building is to be demolished?

That was New York ?
Bloody nice Baron. I always like your creative work. Been out of touch lately with yt..hoildays and all. Have a great DS/Kolchak kinda year.
Thank You.
Thanks for the new vid.
That studio doesn't invoke the glamour you would expect.
I love your ending: "THE END?" LOL!
Sad to see that little girl's photograph and realizing she just died at age 63 .
New York looked so different then, so much grittier.
THIS IS GREAT!!
@Boadicea25 Thank you so much for your kind words...I am so glad that you enjoyed this! :)
Great video =)

The chalk drawing illustration at the beginning of the vid; who drew that, and is it part of the illustration of a DK novel?
How David Hennessy didn't reunited with the cast.. does anyone know
Dark Shadows on amazons prime. Every season.

Love the picture of John Karlen at 2:25. He's a cutie. 😘
can someone tell which song this is
"Time Won't Let Me Go" by The Bravery
Thank You finally a answer, Razor lyrics,
Yes, that is Mr. Rodan @ 1:42

433 West 53rd Street, Manhattan. About 2 blocks west of Ed Sullivan Theater.

@burtonrules123 I see nothing "funny" about the styles from the 1960's!
